looks like Funimation "forgot" that Finland is part of the Nordic group.

Yes this is really annoying to see that rest of the Nordic countries gets some Funimation shows but we Finns get nothing.

Is it too early to sue anime industry for racism towards the Finns? And if I did it how much compensation could I possibly get? xD

Still confused about the Nordic bloc not including Finland

The license Funimation took out probably does not read "Nordic Countries", but "Scandinavia". By general definition Finland is not part of Scandinavia, so it's also not part of the license.

Welp, same case for Iceland though they do get it..

Iceland and the Netherlands are sometimes independently sorted into the English-language license region. That may not happen for Finland that often.

The first few years after Crunchyroll went legit (2009/2010), there were all kinds of different "holes" in the license that included some Nordic countries ... leave out Finland, leave out Finland and Iceland, leave out Denmark, leave out only Iceland (which more recently has been the most common 'hole') ... always generating much complaint, and it seems like Crunchyroll eventually was able to get it through to their primary licensors and also the main licensees that they sub-licensed that it made sense to treat the Nordics as a group. (My spreadsheets on that are trapped on a drive in a dead netbook back in the US, so I can't give detailed breakdowns on that, but it really was scattershot back then.)

It is quite possible that for some licensors where Crunchyroll was getting broader European licenses, Finland was included with the Nordics "by accident", with the Scandinavian rights bundled with the UK & the Finnish rights bundled with Eastern Europe. Since this is post-2010, if Funimation was looking at expanding their streaming into the UK, they'd look at that license region & say, "give us the UK, we have no interest in Eastern Europe", & Scandinavia (but not Finland) comes along for the ride, simply as an accident of how that licensor had carved up their regions.

THANK YOU! Seriously, thanks for bringing back Haruhi and Lucky Star. I missed watching them, all that's left is Nichijou.

That one may take a while, as Funimation doesn't even have it available for streaming on their own site.

I love how Haruhi's name got almost entirely clipped out of the title by a 1995 OVA that looks like it wishes it came out ten years earlier https://myanimelist.net/anime/1079/Armitage_III

And guess which one I plan to watch on CR sooner. The one I haven't seen before.

Ooh, an 8/10 from Archaeon? Nice!

Coyote Ragtime show. Saw the first eps long ago always wanted to watch that..

Ohh, Coyote Ragtime Show...Also saw the first ep, but of the handful of series that iconically DEFINED What Went Wrong With The 00's Licensing Bubble, this was one of the two carved on ADV's tombstone.
I remember back when ADV had their video podcast, and kept trying to sell us synopsis videos of all the obscure new current-airing series they were licensing for disk, back before digisubs and next-day streaming were invented.

And I wouldn't say the over-the-top dystopian-space-mercenary style is "derivative", but there's the old story that 60's pop group The Beau Brummels picked their name so that they would alphabetically be next to The Beatles in every record store in the country.
If "Coyote Ragtime Show" makes absolutely no sense as a title in context of the series, consider its alphabetic proximity to Cowboy Bebop.

It's a legitimately good show itself, with much more of a robin hood and feel-good vibe than Bebop. It's similar to black Blood Brothers in that they are good B-level anime; nothing world-shattering, but they do their stories well.

^ A bit like how I only know about A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd because it's near the top of Funimation's alphabetized anime list.

Haha! No, you're supposed to infer that he's a reviewer whose opinions I respect.

I could have written "I am surprised to see that this relatively low-rated OVA won high praise from one of my favorite MAL reviewers; consequently I will watch it two years sooner than I would have;" but I prefer what I went with

So no one important to know, ok.

Speed Grapher, I might do a rewatch of that.
