Right well i'm glad you don't make such decisions as that would be akin to black slavery.

Right, so I'm a racist now for not caring about a robot. That's neat, guess I'm racist for anything these days. Whatevs

No i'm saying that if something has sentience it's considered living to not give rights to the living is just as bad as slavery.
Whether you care about it or not it's fucked up.

But, as we know from that "Ok, I will destroy humans" goof, they don't...Well, she doesn't, anyway.
They just have talking Eliza programs.

(Anybody old enough to have played around with Eliza programs when they were kids, and make them screw up their responses?
Like when the movie Showgirls came out and put a "sex-chat" Eliza on their website, and Entertainment Weekly tried to get it to admit the movie was bad? )

Even if a robot was capable of greater or deeper thought than me, it'd still just be a thing. It has no spirit. I know spirits aren't part of science, so don't waste your time, since I know disagree about that. However, my beliefs inform my philosophy, which why I have a different view of robots.

You better not let our robot overlords hear you talking like that or it's off to the labor camps for you.

Oh man, I didn't notice. Sorry. However, the robot will never takeover. Instead, all will bow before my iron rule.

This is a little like how armies occasionally give ranks to service animals. I don't think it was meant to showcase the policy or beliefs of the kingdom.
Sounds like great publicity for the robot's creators. I'm betting that played a part in Saudi Arabia's decision.

That's fair but even so humans are things also whilst i understand treating them different i think there should be some form of rights.
If an Alien species were to come to earth via spaceships would we not give them rights? i would like to think so but maybe i'm being naive as humans tend to not think outside of ourselves.

Giving citizenship to a robot, now that's something. At least it can be programmed to be law-abiding, so there's no need to worry about them doing anything that goes against their laws. Nevertheless, Saudi Arabia is quite strict with their laws, so those robots would fit in just fine with the way they do things there while with other humans, that that's not exactly something they can completely handle. In any case, they sure are talking big about it.
