Well based on the Simpson's episode, garbage man will get paid more. Of course 1000 dollars aren't going to cover everything.

Right, you'd have to pay people more.

So, if you have to pay the guys who stand in cow blood and guts all day more to get your hamburger, what's the point? You would get the same burger it would just cost more to make the burger (and more to buy it too)

Yes, the price of everything will go up, but you get to retire early

The idea behind universal basic income is that most people in general like to work and would therefore still work, or would work for the extra money. Of course there will be some who abuse the system, which however will be the case in any kind of arrangement.

Not saying I agree with this, just saying what the idea behind it is.

i remember there were some apps which would reward you for downloading and playing random games. get enough points, and you can exchange the points for currency. don't expect to get anywhere near $1k a month though. probably more like $10.

How? If all the prices go up how can anyone retire on 1000 dollars? As you stated earlier, you won't be able to live on 1000 dollars. Even less so with all the prices going up. It seems like the only outcome will be inflation. It may as well be 1000 yen.

Well, before this you are not given 1000 dollars, so you had to work to get that money. Now that you are given one thousand dollars a month you are able to purchase some water and food. Yes there will be inflation, but it will be returned to the worker. Let's say the burger cost 15 dollars more because your salary has gone up by 100 dollars a day. It means that for those people that "work" they would not feel an inflation because they are getting paid "more" on top of that 1000 dollars given to them. For those that do "not" work they are simply given 1000 dollars to spend on the inflated food. Chances are they will be getting a job too.

So who will be earning more money in the end? The industry? Or the people? The burger cost more in proportion to the salary you earn, so the industry does not get more money from the burgers because they have to pay more for your salary. The working people will be able to buy the same amount of burgers "with" a 1000 dollars bonus to buy burgers. The non working people will be given 1000 dollars to spend on the now inflated burger, it will not out run 1000 dollars per burger I think.

P.S It's the truth sir, please don't hate me

I don't hate you, i just think you are unaware of the effects associated with inflation.

Here is a lovely article on the subject.
http://www.investopedia.com/articles/insights/122016/9-common-effects-inflation.asp

Basically even with the extra 1000 dollars, it wouldn't really matter overall if it caused cost of living to increase by 1200 dollars. As inflation goes up the 1000 dollars will buy less and less. While now a family of 4 may be able to buy groceries for a month on 1000 dollars, eventually they will need 1500 dollars or 2000 dollars or more for that same month of groceries.

Inflation impacts the poor much more than it does anyone else. While savvy investors can probably find a way to benefit from high inflation, everyone else will likely loose. Even with that extra 1000 dollars, it wouldn't help.

Alright, when we have all the money, who is going to work for us? The solution, massive imports. Importing food, and goods at a price available at other countries and we pay with our own money. In other words, a packaged concept by the 3rd war countries. I sense Homer garbage man episode. And by all means do not follow this model unless you are sure you would get a good supply of import or slaved third war countries working for you. For recreational purposes it is posted here.

Right, but keep in mind the country is sort of being able to renew its money based on GDP and while spending a part paying off the non citizens seeking services. It's like a GDP vs GDP fight is how I see it. Else every country gets infinite money then no one would work. On top of that non citizen would get training from the U.S and many other perks including dormitory or housing

lol i would love to have a safe, not a scam, site to give a little extra cash to help each month, like surveys or secret shopper, but i'm always skeptical of that stuff. what i am excited about is Tokyo Otaku Mode's announcement of Otaku Coin, get free coins you can use to support the community/buy merch by watching, reviewing and sharing anime. i really hope this works out because i am so on board with it!
