Is...Is there some sort of tradeoff with what they have to offer? Is VRV offering more than Crunchyroll right now? Am I one of the few still subscribed to Crunchyroll that hasn't jumped ship with the rest? I need to know what to do here, please help me. lol

VRV also has a subscription to Crunchyroll. So you can subscribe to VRV and still get the Crunchyroll benefits. There are no trade-offs to having a VRV subscription except for the slightly higher monthly price.

As for VRV, the UI is kind of annoying. I still watch a lot of shows over Crunchyroll instead of VRV because of the UI. Otherwise VRV is a great service.

So...If I cancelled my current Crunchyroll subscription and moved to VRV I'd have the best of both worlds?

That is what I did. It even prompted me to do just that so no feelings of guilt or remorse!

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe VRV only includes the regular premium membership as opposed to premium plus.
if this is true, it means that you won't get free shipping when buying stuff from CR store - which is a perk for premium plus customers.

catalogue-wise though, VRV should offer everything that CR has, in addition to some other content, such as Funi dubs.
(last i checked, Funi subs weren't available, but maybe that has changed)

edit: one nice thing about VRV is that it uses AWS, which means less down time and more reliable servers.

Yeah, it has Funimation dubs...dunno about subs. But then again Crunchyroll is quickly gaining the Funimation subbed library.

Also has access to some other channels like Rooster Teeth and Geek and Sundry. I highly recommend the latter with some really good shows like Critical Role and HarmonQuest.

That's correct. If you want a Premium Plus account on Crunchy, you can't get that via VRV.

There is at least one show on Crunchyroll that isn't available on the Crunchy channel on VRV (One Piece). This probably has to do with some licensing restrictions, but as long as you link your Crunchyroll account to VRV you can still watch One Piece on Crunchyroll's site as a premium member.

I also haven't looked in a while but when I last did, it did seem that all the Funi titles on VRV are the dubs. I honestly don't expect that to change but that's more intuition than any concrete knowledge.

My hunch is that Funi isn't putting subs up because, as you say, those subs are in the process of being transferred to Crunchy, and once they are on Crunchyroll they would be on the Crunchyroll channel on VRV.

I've poked around a little at the other channels on VRV, and while there's a bunch that isn't really my thing, I've found some really interesting stuff that I'm really glad to have watched but which I probably would not have even known existed except for poking around on VRV!

Unfortunately VRV's UI on every device I've used it on is pretty clunky in terms of navigating, and the watchlist is pretty subpar compared to Crunchyroll's queue (which, while not perfect, is actually quite good--the way it can be manually ordered, the way it reliably advances to the next unwatched episode, the way it's easy to navigate from it to the main show page, etc.) That said, it's nice that on VRV your watchlist includes things from multiple channels, and you don't have to go into the individual channels for individual watchlists.

My biggest worry was not being able to use CR's app when watching CR shows. It's much easier to navigate than VRV plus I was afraid I'd lose my que and have to start over and have to find every last episode I was on. I learned that wasn't the case. So I can watch my CR shows on the CR app (plus One Piece which I was afraid of losing too), and everything else on VRV's app.

I'm happy with my switch to VRV so far. Enjoying some great shows on there.

I signed up for it last month and I've been enjoying it. I previously had both Funimation and Crunchyroll accounts so the decision was a no brainer since I like watching both subbed and dubbed anime.

The UI is cluttered though, which I am not a fan of. Especially coming off Funimation's service (which was also pretty flawed) that had the nice feature of auto loading any simulcast series you were watching in it's top row when a new episode came out. VRV's by comparison is pretty messy since you have to search through different pages instead.

That aside, I'd say it's still worth it, especially since I've also been digging the Cartoon Brew, Shudder, and VRV Selects content as well.

I'm sticking to Crunchyroll. VRV is great if you use FUNimation and the other services that come with it but since I stopped using FUNimation I have no reason to jump ship.

Okay, so someone correct me if I am wrong (because I'm a little confused) ...
If I cancel my subscription here and subscribe to VRV, and then link my accounts, I'd still be a premium member here because I am there too? Just not a premium plus? Or am I reading this wrong?

Yes. As long as you are paying for the Crunchyroll channel on VRV (either "a la carte" or as part of the combo pak), you can unsubscribe on crunchyroll.com and then link your accounts and you would then be able to use crunchyroll.com as a Premium (not Premium Plus) member, in addition to using the crunchyroll channel on VRV.

As Lorreen says, with the one exception of (reportedly) no longer getting guest passes (which you can only give away) every 30 days. That's not actually declared anywhere.
