but you will still have to get a waiver for said mental illnesses

edit: They have been increasing their recruiting numbers lately, plus they are working against stuff like a good economy, obesity, and what not.
I think earlier this year asthma was not PDQ assuming it was in the past. Even things like past marijuana use is ok (because states legalizing it)

Thats the whole point of military training, the people who can't handle it mentally will get washed out.

PTSD for just going through military training is very likely for sure

I like how the experts claimed that we would be at war within 6 months from November 9, 2016--- it's been a year ? not to mention they didn't even realize that we have been fighting a war the entire time right? Obama didn't do shit beside increasing the # of drone strikes and killing more civilians it's rinse and repeat with each new president what else is new?

They could lower it but you'd still wait to get shipped out. Unfortunately the mandatory retirement age is 62, the current age limit is 39; that way they can try to squeeze 20 years out of you since they wouldn't want to waste money on people who have no chance of making rank.

In a loose way JROTC is basically the first thing, and they can waiver the second basically forever if they really, really want to. Even more broadly, with the cutoff changes. People unable to serve in a viable capacity.

Much like self-mutilation, or drug dependencies. Alcoholism is already a problem for the military services. It isn't as if they have medically trained people out there watching the Basic Training groups to make sure that no one gets crippled.

just because someone has a mental illness that doesn't always mean it's runs their life and/or ruin it. but, since there are so many issues with getting new recruits they have to try for broke. obesity, tats and arrest records isn't going to help some folks to get into the military. well they have relaxed the ban on tats some but zero for arrest, and, a plea of desperation they are also trying for legal immigrates to serve in the military.
