I have always been a sucker for Hero's Journey type animes. And, you know, you kinda want to see the hero get to the end of their journey. Glass Mask is my favorite Hero's Journey anime that didn't complete, though I think they stopped it a good place. I have watched Skip Beat which is similar to Glass Mask, and to be honest, I thought they ended that at a good place also. Still, would like to see the hero finish the trip.

DanMachi would be my second favorite Hero's Journey anime which ended before the hero finished the trip. Sigh.

The Twelve Kingdoms

The odd thing was, for the first several episodes, I didn't like the series much, and didn't find myself warming to the MC. If I had following some people's "3 episode rule", I would have dropped what turned out to be a very good series.

Well before the ending, I was wishing it had another 45 episodes.

Claymore - Aw man...they totally ran out of money or something...just ended too fast with too many unanswered questions.

Space Dandy - The last episodes were getting a bit stale...probably because they knew they were ending it. So sad.

Berserk (the old one) - Too much left untouched.

Yona of the Dawn - Another one that didn't finish its grand plot.

My top anime that has been discontinued is Accel World. Under normal circumstances, it would have gotten a second season already as while it is dwarved by Reki Kawahara's more popular work Sword Art Online, it has a pretty sizable fan following in Japan, certainly to the point where it easily meets the quota for another season. However, it ran into a wall of bad luck as it was done by the same production team as Love Live, and the popularity for that franchise is far beyond expectations so much that the team is continuing to milk the franchise, and there's no sign of that stopping anytime soon as all they have to do is introduce new idols and slap the Love Live name, and it's license to print money. That said, it's a pretty long novel series that can't take many shortcuts with the way things are progressing, but with the way it ended there definitely needs to be some sort of canonical follow-up.

Also, I would like some more Spice and Wolf, No Game No Life, and Chihayafuru as well. Especially No Game No Life as Madhouse is pretty notorious for not doing sequels. While the second season of Chihayafuru is amazing, unfortunately it took its sweet time spending almost the entire show on two karuta tournaments in the same place. Then there's Spice and Wolf as the journey just barely got started after all that.

Man I don't even like thinking about this topic because it still hurts lol.

Good Luck Girl

High School of the Dead

Heaven's Lost Property

Devil Is a Part Timer

Ben-To

That's about it off the top of my head and pretty much in that order.

Good Luck Girl was one of my top 5 anime's. I even got my buddy to watch it and he fell in love with it as well (and he has a very short attention span).
HSotD to me was a great anime at the beginning. I think towards the end it went a little overboard with the fanservice and kinda lost its tone but still overall it was solid.

The other 3 were good fun anime's I enjoyed that had some great characters and good comedy. Would love to have another season of each. Not sure what happened with Heaven's Lost Property. I remember after the movie it was talks about a 3rd & final season coming but never did

Both of these mangas kind of turned shitty after the animes finished.

HSDK doesn't further the plot and mostly just repeats the same training/fights.

Hunter X Hunter's author seemingly doesn't know where to bring the story or how to further the plot either hence the long hiatuses.
Shame, Hunter X Hunter had good potential and was extremely popular.

MayoChiki and Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai are a couple of the anime that I've watched and resorted to reading the light novels to find out how they ended. A few of the light novel series that I'm currently reading because of the anime:

Sword Art Online
Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon
The Devil is a Part-timer
Konosuba
Date A Live

Still so many other series that I want to read, but I have a long way to go until I'm caught up with what I'm currently reading. Well, with the exception of Sword Art Online. I just have to read book 20 and I'm set. (Still have yet to read the Progressive side-stories, though.)
