It's a sad trend how these companies are protecting customers' personal information now a day. I don't think we can go a few months without hearing about some company's system got hacked and customers' personal data stolen.

Often the case is that companies are still entering into the digital world and barely have any understanding as to how it works.
In Uber's case it appears that they were foolish enough to have credentials to their AWS environment on a Github site.
While Github isn't the most secure system to date, Uber devs should have never put credentials out in the open in such a fashion.
It doesn't help that their former CEO (Uber) simply tried to sweep it under a rug instead of going the official route of reporting it.

Uber CEO paying off hackers ? at least he/she will not release a video where he/she showing crocodile tears about how important is.. blah. blah.. like Equifax CEO. I got just latter from Wellsfargo for some unauthorized charges/fees/accounts ? I guess someone sued them or something?

There's Virtual Account number https://www.cardbenefits.citi.com/Products/Virtual-Account-Numbers I'm curious if they have something like virutal identity that you can use like a virtual account number with each company.
