It's possible your account has been hacked... CR wouldn't change the billing without your account authorizing it. If you still can, change your password, and put in a ticket to support to remove the 12 month billing: /contact

These are all things to do just in case:

Check your /home/history to see if there are shows on there you haven't watched yourself. If there are, that's almost surely what happened.

Check for any account transactions here: /orderstatus to make sure there isn't any store activity.

Delete all devices here: /acct/?action=devices.

If you were hacked, you may still see episode activity in your history for a while, because you can't expire someone else's browser cookie on their PC if they hacked you.

You might want to read about why to use password management tools (such as LastPass, for example) here, and use a different password for every website, and never reuse them:

What do you get for £39.99 on a year's membership if any of you know?

No in-video ads, mainly.

It's cheaper than paying the monthly rate.

Also, for simulcasts, you don't have to wait a week for the latest episode.

As for manga, you do get what is available instead of just a sample chapter. There isn't a tremendous amount here, though, and even then, once chapters are collected into published volumes, they fall off being available. Manga alone shouldn't be your main reason to subscribe, it's just a perk if you keep current.

Higher resolutions with the old flash player yet, but supposedly once the HTML5 player rolls out, this will no longer be a difference.

It does not get you more shows, aside from some very few exceptions in the Scandinavian countries. What you can watch is (mostly) the same whether you subscribe, or watch with ads.
