The time I asked my sister if she gained some weight, and the look she gave me froze my blood. Lesson learned.

Officially, I've seen -72F (-59C) when I was living in Fairbanks, AK in 1989. That's some of the coldest weather in record in the US.

The lowest actual outdoor temperature I've seen is -17 Fahrenheit, and the coldest windchill factor I remember was -26 Fahrenheit. But the thermometer on the walk-in freezer where I work reads -40, and as fast as my hands go numb looking for merchandise, I'm inclined to believe it.

Roughly -40C.
Canadian Winters, oof.
Gets really depressing because of it, no one wants to go outside because they'll just freeze, and staying indoors is often an option (tech jobs can work from home, my university campus has tunnels or bridges between buildings) so naturally people will want to stay warm. Unfortunately this also brings the issue of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which is basically seasonal depression, from not getting enough sunlight or brightness in your life, or just not talking or meeting up with people as often.

But whatever, such is life in Canada.

It was a miserable 13 degrees F this morning where I am. I guess this is the part where all you northerners laugh at me.

I'd never experienced extreme temperatures before so I never much cared about nature and really gave it its due props. . We've had some stormy nights lately and wow, such power. I want to feel it again.

I don't know the exact number but I have been in the -30's Fahrenheit quite a few times in my life. I might have been in colder but I don't really look at temps in the winter. I just accept it's gonna be cold for a long time. xD
