As I was watching the trailer I was on the verge of tears.

Finally what promises to be a decent anime adaptation.

I've been bingeing on the reviews of the trailers and it seems to be divided into two camps: people who want to bitch about the CGI and the eyes, and people who are genuinely excited.

I think GITS really let a lot of people down, and TBH, I also think people prefer to complain and be cynical because it makes them seem smarter, but this is one project, I'm willing to toss a bit of hope towards.

Mind you, the rule of thumb is STILL that if it's a live action adaptation of anime, it's trash, but I think this may be the one to overturn that rule...

Honestly, I'm surprised by how few anime fans are actually caring about it. (though I think people will get more interested as the release date draws closer).

God I hope it's as good as it seems like it could be.

That rule has been overturned quite a few times, but your probably just going off the more recent gits and netflix death note and you lack of knowledge.

Watching the new trailer almost makes me feel like they've made the eyes smaller, but I've tried to compare them directly and it doesn't look like they actually did. I guess it could just be that I'm not "surprised" by it this time around.

Still, the new trailer looks pretty good. Pretty action heavy, though, so I hope the full movie delves into the world building and lore as well instead of just being an action film.

I had the same reaction about the eyes, I guess I'm gradually just getting used to them. Though the paint below her eyes does balance them out somehow.

World building and lore tended to come in progress of action in the manga, and it would be a drag on the film if it didn't.

Agreed. I just watched and enjoyed the new trailer release and noticed quite a few changes from the previous release as well. I especially like this trailers version of when Dr. Ido finds Alita in the scrapyard, she looks more life like and finished out, her face, skin and everything was very well done. I am especially interested in the scenes where Alita is practicing her Panzer Kunst and when she "finds" her new berserker body. I heard this movie will include Alita's Motorball adventures which should make for some really incredible CGI.

I am also keeping my fingers crossed and praying this film does not follow the path of GITS. With Battle Angel Alita being James Cameron baby and with his having final say in the matter, we may very well see more future titles from this rather dark and vast universe.

Well it looks like they added the paint under her eyes when she's battling Mokaku underground like in the manga/OVA which is awesome! There is one very brief look at motor ball in the trailer. It's when she bursts out of the glass near the end, you can see the "Motor ball" words in the background and you can clearly see she has legs with 2 wheels like roller blades. The edit is clever since the next scene looks like a continuation but isn't. She has boots in the part she is running up on top of the downed robot with her sword getting ready to stab the one that's shooting at her.
