Yes. A fulltime job with benefits and overtime. I'm very thankful and it took me two years of several part time jobs to get it.

I have a housemate and yes, I work in retail. Gotta make some money to afford the anime lifestyle.

I have a full-time job, but I fell ill at the beginning of the year and am on sick leave, so I have been having more time for anime and manga and stuff. It's been a nice hobby as it keeps me distracted and stuff from lesser pleasant things.

From the POV of an American you could say my job looks like that of a Japanese salaryman. Regular working hours aren't nearly as long as theirs, although I do have to work a lot after hours. (Ever been phoned up repeatedly throughout the whole night and kept that up for multiple successive nights? Employment law around here is ridiculously convoluted and expensive to comply with but has none of the things that actually matter.) You basically can't get fired unless you grab someone's bottom. The slackers do nothing at all so anyone who actually cares is under severe stress the whole time. But enough complaints. We do at least get plenty of vacation days, unlike Japanese salarymen who can't take theirs.

No, not at the moment. I have a chronic illness (ME/CFS) so it’s really difficult to find a job that can accommodate that but I am trying. Luckily I live with my folks so I don’t have many bills to pay, just digs and my media subscriptions.

I freelance here and there, sadly its hard to get employed when disabled.... they see what you could cost them not what you could do.

I work two jobs and pay my own rent, however because of the C.O.L of both my state and local area I do have a roommate. Everything else though is paid through my own sweat and blood.

I saw this and knew it was another jersey resident.

Same situation, minus the roommate, and that's only due to a fortunate turn of events where my rent is cheap due to an awesome landlord and a tiny tiny apartment.

Yup. Gotta love Jersey. You either strike gold or have to spend every day mining coal. Either way it's hard to survive unless your super rich or work yourself day and night.

I think it's endemic to the coasts... But NJ is one of the worst due to the proximity to NYC and Philly
