For me, I don't play online multiplayer, but I would have more than likely chosen Team Objective over Team Deathmatch.

With TDM, you're randomly running around trying to manage a high kill/death ratio, showing casual disregard to your safety and the safety of your teammates to kill as many enemies as possible. The only exception to this is if respawns are turned off during each round and there are revive mechanics, just to encourage players on the same team to revive each other long enough for them to kill off the enemy team. But other than that, they're too random and chaotic for my tastes.

Team Objective matches, e.g. Conquest and Capture the Flag, on the other hand, are the opposite. When there is a single, centralized target for each team to either attack or defend, it encourages coordination, communication, and teamwork among the group to ensure that the objective is completed. This is most especially true when there are classes to further encourage team play, like Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch.

Plus, when I look at objective matches, and they make me think of campaign and survival modes, the former where you're on the attack, trying to get from one end of a map to another, the latter where you defend against waves for as long as you can.

Team objective is about as close to being objectively better from a design standpoint as you can get. Not only does it usually include multiple different objectives, allowing for more variety than deathmatches, but it also has the bonus of encouraging teamwork and co-operation as well as outside the box thinking. I also like that it gives more variety in what the designers can do with player characters. If the gameplay is centered around multiple objectives rather than just racking up kills then the developper has an oppurtunity to include a much more diverse roster of characters.

I prefer a left for dead 2 style team game. This way you are working as a small team of people trying to find the best way to strategically take down, and or separate communication and teamwork to win. If you become disconnected from your team, you will lose. Simple

But, you know. Pew pew, capture objective, overwatch!

Don't really play video games anymore, at least team oriented video games. Sure it was fun to get on Skype and play some games, but competitive gaming brought out the worst in me. This is why I will never play overwatch. Oh but we play for fun Oooook, so then why have objectives when you have horrible matchmaking? I'm just assuming they have horrible matchmaking

both sounds about right for me, as I can play both running up in your face and blowing it off and nearly dying in the process, or I can patiently wait and clip someone off sniper like and take little to no damage. but I prefer death match myself.

Both opinions sounds right, but it feels i'm mostly to team objective.

I voted "team deathmatch" because most of the time I play alone with random people, and there is no way to do anything coordinated on public servers. But when playing with friends, having a common objective makes it a lot more fun.
