How much marketing would they get if they just ran the contest on their own forums? New subs pay for these contests.

Back when they were a smaller company they did contests (much more than they do now actually) solely on the forums or from watching anime shows to get badges for the contest.

I agree with all the Twitter haters. Also, what if you've already used your free trial? I guess it would be pointless to start up a Twitter just to enter a contest I can't win anyway.

Can't say I'm a fan of the Twitter requirement, either. I refuse to use any of the social media platforms, as all they are in my eyes is opt-in advertising. I understand the desire to expand one's user base, but there really should be more means to enter...

I DON'T USE TWITTER OR ANY SOCIAL MEDIA. THE LAST CONTEST WAS COOL BECAUSE ALL I HAD TO DO WAS WATCH ANIME. EVEN THEN, FOR THAT COMPETITION, YOU HAD THE OPTION TO MAIL IN A PHYSICAL LETTER TO ENTER. THIS HAS NO MAIL IN OPTION. WHAT A FARCE. THIS PRIZE IS FAR LESS VALUE THAN THAT ONE ANYHOW. SO WHAT GIVES ON BEING CHEAP?

They hid the link to the tweet in the detailed rules. Pretty sneaky...... BUT NOT SNEAKY ENOUGH!

Alas, no Twitter here, either. Bummer to see all these contests we can't enter if we don't participate in specific social media sites. I just like to watch anime.

I made a twitter account months ago just for the sole purpose of doing give away's that I will realistically never win. But, I LOVE all the hate it gets especially when people refuse to make an account. Marginally higher chances for this pleb to win

Best of luck! Either way, though, CR loses. I mean, the point of having their viewers put stuff out on social media is to get the word out to potentially like-minded individual. If we put stuff out there on an account that no one is likely to be following, the only one it really benefits is Twit-corp. This contest seems like it does more to annoy existing viewers than bring in new ones. I could be wrong--there could be a bunch of people re-tweeting and not bothering to post--but it doesn't look like a recipe for a successful marketing campaign from where I'm sitting.

All of you people seem to be misunderstanding the reason why contests that use social media like this.

To draw in people unaware of the promotion. to the site. to draw in potential customers.

seeing all this "why this when you have forum" kills me.
