Have you heard of the game Black Desert online???

Does anyone play it? I was thinking about starting to get into playing the game once I got a new HDD for my computer. Any advice on the game? Do you like it? Is it worth playing? I really wanna try !

Thank you for you're opinions <3

I play it and really enjoy it.

The character graphics are amazing, though the environments are not even close to that level. They do some really nice things with the lighting though and they have a knack for making the world feel visually lived in.

Story and lore are so-so. Nothing too special but nothing terrible either. Most of the voice acting is terrible but is easily ignored. The companion who "travels" with you during the game is cool and it's easy to see why it's become something of a mascot.

The gameplay is nicely varied with many routes to take to "end-game," and the game is structured such that being a farmer or a trader or a fisherman is just as encouraged as PvPing or fighting world bosses. The combat is absolutely excellent. Each of the classes feels legitimately different in it's design and control scheme but they all let you feel like an actual bad ass. There's no standing around watching cooldown timers or waiting for big red f-me zones to appear on the ground. You need to be active and reactive almost like in an action game, and while it doesn't quite nail the precision of something like a Dark Souls it comes respectably close for an MMO.

My biggest issue with the game is the community. By and large, the community is a cesspool and you'll want to mute it before you even get out of the tutorial. I would suggest getting your feet wet basically solo and then finding a guild that matches your interests once you're comfortable. And leave every chat channel except guild chat muted.

I can probably answer some/most of the specific questions you may have as I've been playing for a while now. Just ask away.

My two main characters:

BDO is one of those MMOs that I see advertised everywhere without seeing anyone actually talk about it. From my experiences with Dungeon Fighter Online, Blade & Soul and others that tends to mean it's a pretty average cookie cutter MMO without much depth beyond a few gimmicks that's likely only made for a quick buck. It has a 7/10 on steam so it's probably not terrible, but I would need more than not terrible to justify the time commitment required to play an MMO.

Then again, I really don't have the time to commit to an MMO in general right now, so take that as you may. I still would recommend Guild Wars 2 or FFXIV over this though.

Yes! I actually came back to play about a month ago with some friends from discord/CR. I tried the game alone about 6 months ago and didn't really enjoy the game at all, though that was because of how overwhelming the game was for me with no initial interest of learning the game for myself, so I stopped. But now I'm back and with friends I'm really enjoying it and while the game definitely leans towards the grindy side, the sense of immersion and progression in the game made me quite addicted, perhaps too addicted at this point.

I liked it a lot while I played but kind of fell out of it. Played wizard to around 40ish I think then just wanted to try other things but never really got into any other characters and that is when I just stopped playing. Didn't really give any other characters a real good try either though. One day I might return.

It's one of those games that you'll either love or hate once you try it. It is eye candy, but not much more. What it turned out to be (despite the direction the game concept was supposed to go) is a solo grind game with limited player-to-player interaction. Combat has a fairly steep learning curve (at least, adjusting to it once you've come from any game with a typical UI) and questing is a bland experience, highlighted by errand boy requests. It also has a lot to do when you finally get tired of grinding but no real "endgame."

It has a pretty interesting character creation system. Basically you click on one part of the body and stretch it. So for example you can select a hair style, and then stretch different parts of the hair to customize it to your liking. You can stretch their body to make them taller, or give them bigger tatas if you like. There is also a lot of detail in the eyes, but it doesn't go as in depth as western mmo's with the face, so a lot of the characters people make have similar looking faces.

It's fun to play since it's hack and slash, but the quest design is boring and uninspired. It's a mediocre game in my opinion. Also it's been a while but if I remember correctly the classes are gender locked with most of the classes being female. So just in case you wanted to make some husbandos there aren't many options.

This is the one where you run around in lingerie killing flamingos? Then your only man choices are, if I recall correctly, Punch Man, Sword Man, Bow Man, and Magic Man. Everyone else is a librarian.

Good MMO if you like PVP

Terrible MMO if you like PVE

Overall it's amazing but a grindfest.

Thats because it's a pvp game with minimal pve / quest effort was always intended to be

I actually find the PvE to really be quite fun simply because the combat is so enjoyable. I honestly don't mind getting a daily quest that tells me to kill 400 of a certain type of mob. It's very true that there are really no actual dungeons or raids to run though so it's not designed for PvE in that sense like most MMOs are. If you want a game where you can just play and have a good time while incrementally improving your character pretty much regardless of what you like doing, BDO is a very good choice. If you want a traditional gear treadmill MMO, BDO is not a good choice.

That said, yeah, the intended end game activity is definitely PvP even if you can put hundreds of hours into the game without ever really doing it as in my case.

I have but I've never been interested in playing it because of how grindy it is and because lacks the kind of PvE content I crave at end game. I did pick it up for 5 dollars, but I honestly may never invest much time into this game.

Never heard the game, but according to what you are talking about, it seems like not bad game. Is the Steam store game?
