Golden Kamuy seems likely for Crunchyroll or Viz Media, since it will be only streaming in Japan on the Fuji on demand service.

Golden Kamuy is published by NBCUniversal which CR is currently in a co-production partnership with. I curious if this is a copro.

What golden age? There is no consensus golden age. According to these members of the Old School Anime Club on MAL, the golden age was obviously the 1980's. https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1633526

If you ask me, the best time in anime is 2010 to now, second best the 80's, third best the 90's. But a lot of people my age look back most fondly on the 2000's.

The industry may be pandering to demographics you're miles removed from, and that's unfortunate for you and people like you. Maybe someday you'll be able to crowdfund the kind of content you want to watch.

Why do you consider '10s the best time for anime?

There should be old threads about this, but Search didn't help, so I replied here:

I think 2010s anime is the best time because of the ease of accessibility you can get watch anime between here, Funimation, Netflix and Prime and the quickness of getting a new episode within a few hours after it airs in Japan. In terms of decades I personally think the 90s and 2000s are the best because that was my era I grew up in, granted a lot of the shows that got dubbed like DBZ were a decade old at that point.

Okay, well, even most old school fans would agree that now is the best time to be a fan, because of the ease of access and availability of high quality BD versions of classics. I guess the only way it could have been better to be a fan in the 80's would be if you could actually go to events in 80's Japan.

Yeah, I also like the most late '90s and early '00 anime.

I agree it looks like a good community, especially if you read the longer source article. The VHS marathon with no subtitles, and a guy next to the TV explaining roughly what's going on, that's less appealing.

Here's Patton Oswalt arguing it was in some ways better to be a fan back then, though he's mainly talking about western media: https://www.wired.com/2010/12/ff_angrynerd_geekculture/

But then reflect on the advantages. Waiting for the next issue, movie, or album gave you time to reread, rewatch, reabsorb whatever you loved, so you brought your own idiosyncratic love of that thing to your thought-palace. (...)

Why create anything new when there’s a mountain of freshly excavated pop culture to recut, repurpose, and manipulate on your iMovie?
None of that’s necessary anymore. When everyone has easy access to their favorite diversions and every diversion comes with a rabbit hole’s worth of extra features and deleted scenes and hidden hacks to tumble down and never emerge from, then we’re all just adding to an ever-swelling, soon-to-erupt volcano of trivia, re-contextualized and forever rebooted. We’re on the brink of Etewaf: Everything That Ever Was—Available Forever.

I know it sounds great, but there’s a danger: Everything we have today that’s cool comes from someone wanting more of something they loved in the past. (...)

Now, with everyone more or less otaku and everything immediately awesome (or, if not, just as immediately rebooted or recut as a hilarious YouTube or Funny or Die spoof), the old inner longing for more or better that made our present pop culture so amazing is dwindling.

For me it was the '90s. That was when I started to consciously watch Anime as Anime. Before I had only seen dubbed kid's shows without knowing or caring that they were Anime. My reason for liking the '90s so much?

Because my favourite mecha are still: Neon Genesis Evangelion; Magic Knight Rayearth and The vision of Escaflowne.
My favourite magical girls are: Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon; who both broke the mold and redefined the genre back then.
My all time number one high school romcom: Kare Kano.
For mystery/adventure shows it was: Fushigi Yuugi and Nadia: the secret of blue water.

Although I'm only getting to watch Cowboy Bebop now, it was made in the '90s and so far it's a pretty good action/drama.
And let's not forget the first Ghost in the Shell Animated movie and Princess Mononoke.

Of course this list was heavily influenced by whatever Anime my classmate could get his hands on. Not all of it was good or complete.

I'll admit there were some awesome movies in the early 00's like: Sen to Chihiro; Ghost in the Shell: Innocence and Howl's moving castle.

But as happens with anyone who's spent a lifetime watching tv and movies, after a while everything new starts to remind you of something you've seen before. So the first shows and movies you saw feel like the original and everything else seems a mere copy. Sometimes with good execution and sometimes as a weak rip off. But then, before you started watching, there were others and what was new to you, reminded them of something they had seen before...
