What if you see a naked girl like you see a tree? What if there is no sex in this world? If the sexual perception is sought as a taboo, why is it created in the first place? Why is the porn banned and the book burned?

What if there is no sexual desire in this world, that sex becomes obligatory. Will we face extinction? That we can just carry out this task like we work for the last 30 years?

To love someone and to want to have sex with someone are two different things, so why is there sex if you can purely love someone without it?

Imagine someone who cannot perceive sexual desire like Sagara Sousake. Sexual needs deserve validation.

Sex is the only reason we do anything. Unless we have a massive motivator in some other way yeah we would go existinct and society would collapse

Sex isn't bad, but promiscuity is.

there are those who don't want sex, there are those who are attracted to objects and animals. (it is legal to marry objects in Japan after all, a pillow, a video game, robot...) but it's something people still want to do, and since it's all over the place and it sells well that makes it even more desired. irony when some people finally get a taste they define it as over rated.

I would imagine in another decade or so we won't need sex to reproduce, we already have the first stages of an artificial womb so it's only a matter of time before we begin this with humans. since some countries want to force birth control and abortion so freely then yes this will cut down the population and then there's no need to worry about reproduction, let alone good luck when you finally want to get pregnant, before the artificial womb becomes all the rave of course.

Outside of personal survival, it's the prime instinctual motivator. In fact, it can sometimes override personal survival....

The reason? Mixing of DNA for greater chances of variation and mutation, the continuation of the species....

It's a major pain in the ass. I'm waiting for cyborg bodies so I can be rid of these silly biological imperatives... >.<

Yes, because without new life being brought into the world; things will very very quickly(read not quickly but still "quickly" ya know?) become stagnate.

...

This is assuming immortality or something doesn't happen, but that's not ever happening in our lifetimes or if ever!

I'm more interested to know why someone would bother asking the question "Why is there sex?".

If one wants to know HOW sex became a biological imperative, there are books and videos on evolution and meiosis to answer the question.

If one seriously just means "why" from a philosophical perspective, then I have no idea what to say. Because God/Jesus/Vishnu/Allah/Zeus/Odin/Flying Spaghetti Monster/Jew God/Tom Cruise/Oprah said so? Things just are. "Why" has nothing to do with anything.

Tom Cruise told me that sex is a horrible thing that should be avoided.
Thank Cruise that I never listened to Him.

To topic: because we are biologically driven to procreate.
Throughout the course of human history, our desire to procreate decreased and the enjoyable aspect of sexuality has increased.
In other words: people found out that sex is pleasurable, so it’s more of a recreational thing than a procreational thing (for many).
Must to most of the OP’s threads, it appears it’s more so an issue with “Why is sex around when there are some who are not sexual, in nature?”
To that, I say, “to each their own”.
Some people will be sexual, some will not.
Some will have been single so long throughout their life that sex seems unnecessary to lead a happy life.
Some will have been so sexual that they feel that sex is all there is to life.
Then there are those in between all that and think that sex is pleasurable/enjoyable, not necessary to living life but definitely helps along the way (i.e., me).
