Definitely Sora No Otoshimono <3 Because shows how much long you can go for the person you love and at the same time for the force of your heart to feel the feeling TuT or at least that's my reason :3 Oh And cause there is the most beautiful girl in anime

This, i read the manga. It was so funny I binged 76 chapters and laughed nearly nonstop. I say nearly since it did have it's more serious moments when the story would progress and whatnot.

Bearing in mind that I tend to place a high value on Iyashikei, it makes sense that I would think highly of this show as a progenitor of the genre. Furthermore, comparisons are often made between this show and Aria, which for me personally is the best anime that I actually have seen. So even though its impossible to know for sure, Yokohama Shopping Log would certainly be my best bet.

The animes (there are two short OAV series) are a nice little bonus if you've read the manga. The manga is a masterpiece.

How would I know it's the best if I've never watched it?

Best anime I've never watched?

Probably JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

One day I'll check it out, but....over a hundred episode, man. Geez. I'm so used to anime being 12 episodes.

Lupin the III - Because that is way too long

Don't feel like you have to watch it all, you can just watch part 4 if you want to just see the modern episodes or Part 1 if you want to see the classic lupin or both.. Part 2 has some really bad episodes in it tho it still has good episodes but it is kind of hit or miss more than part 1 or 4.. There is a good guide if you want to watch some of the good episodes. from the parts you skip. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature/2016-01-22/lupin-the-third-where-to-start-and-what-worth-watching/.97834

I can't comment on part 3 cause I am still working on part 2 but part 2 is what makes it super long. Also It is episodic so you can skip around without worry. You don't even need to watch the parts in order.

I have a gut feeling that this topic's anime for me is Mushishi. I've tried my best (being largely successful) to avoid spoilers. From the little snippets that seep from other people's posts and some images, the series gives off a chill, melancholic, and supernatural vibe. I also heard its episodic and features an adult protagonist. Those elements are all in my sweet spot. Oddly enough, my anticipation for it is paradoxically the reason why I haven't watched it.

First, I feel like I'm putting so much unfair expectations on it; which I worry will make me hyper-sensitive to the smallest of flaws or shortcomings from unreasonable expectations. Especially for franchises I've never touched, I like delve into those series without any prior knowledge. Second, since I have a feeling that it'll be great, I avoid watching it until I find myself in a dry spell with "great" anime; which I haven' experienced in a long time (pre-2010s).

Berserk - Apparently it's good but I just seem to not be watching it. I read part of one of the first chapters and didn't like the art so after that I haven't looked into it more

I wouldn't know because I haven't seen it.

If it's "best according to other people" then there's a ton of them.

This

That.

Lately I'm thinking Gintama also falls into that particular conundrum.

Since every anime is considered the best by too many people everywhere. So name something random and that's "best". And if i haven't seen it, then I haven't seen it.
