Turn on the pellet stove. Moove the beer out of the fridge and put it on the porch. Keep streaming the tunes to my battery powered bluetooth speakers. I have battery blocks and solar chargers. Plenty of canned and non perishable food and 10 gallons of watter. If the power stays out for more than a week i have friends who are farmers and have a root cellar.

Now if i were an urbanite dependant on the grocerary fairy i suppose i would riot and steal what i need. Then blame my mayhem on those dispicables in middle america who dare to have common sence and "horde" the resources i couldn't be bothered to keep on hand while i was fiddling. As an urbanite i would be entitled to take from anyone if i am in need because they are ants and urbanites are the grasshoppers... well more like locusts.

I have a backup generator at my place. Plus a lot of the stores around here run on solar power so it all depends on how long the power was out.

I would grab lots and lots of blankets. After that I'd either stay up with friends and family, or go to bed.

Wonder why it was out as it's Monday, not Tuesday. They're early.

Staaaahp, this hasn't happened in forever, just think of a possibility that hasn't ever.

Not knowing what to do, just what you are prepared for. It's heartwarming, to get away from all of the bullshit.

Living off of candle light has more meaning than you will ever know.

And in time so too would the candle light fade.

What of New Years then? Would you seek to rekindle the flame or let the world slip into darkness?

this is pure, rekindle the flame ofc

@ OP oh how would we complain if the power went out ... oh no *sarcasm*

like all power outages I endure, since they happen random in my little part of the world, it's a clear and dry day and the power can go. I typically wait patiently for it to return. with that, if it's dark I light a candle and wait, daylight I'm reading or something. long term, I drag out my generator and wait for it to return. longest without power is 3 days, day 2 there was the generator, which took forever since literally every story was sold out of these things due to the power outage.

I was just curious what people would say, it's not like I'm holding grudges IDK some people got creative, I enjoy to read what people would do. I'm like a light switch sometimes, best way to describe me.

Just hit the sacks and get ready for when the power comes back on in the new year. It's just like any other day, except that it marks the beginning of something. As bummed as I would be not to celebrate it with a live TV feed from Time Square or someplace where a big party is going down, I would just move on as if I already realized it.

Sleep or read a book, using a candle as light.
But let's be honest, I'd probably sleep.
