Episode's atmosphere and uplifting musical score is reminiscent of Space Brothers . I'm looking forward to this show's musings. Do hope their adventure(s) pivot around more nautical objects like the icebreaker in this show.

Certainly an intriguing start. Pretty great how they capture a sense of wonder and adventure even in a modern, everyday setting.

Cute Girls Doing Antarctic Expedition Things? I'm surprisingly onboard.

Anyone else getting a Little Witch vibe off the animation?

Can anyone explain to me why the characters have a white border around them (hair, clothes, skin) almost all the time, regardless of lighting?

I enjoyed the episode overall, but found that aspect to be very distracting - really separated the characters from the backgrounds, like they were pasted on top. I'm assuming it maybe has something to do with making the animation easier / cheaper? Or maybe just an aesthetic choice? Not something I recall seeing anywhere else...

It has been done before, I think it was 'The Moon; So Beautiful'. It's an aesthetic approach I believe. I really enjoyed the 1st episode. I'm on board for this.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this at all going in and it was a fairly pleasant surprise. Should be a fun journey to go on.

Kimari is probably one of the dumbest looking characters I've seen in a long time though.

Episode 1

Here we go! 2018 anime begins with this!!

The show is glossy as heck with the style reminding of shows like Wandering Son, Tsuki ga Kirei, or even Poco's Udon World. This one felt like a standard introductory episode, but had hints and setups as to where how the show will feel like going onwards.

I do enjoy the light-hearted comedy bits and the faces. Very good faces that expresses emotion and feeling, which helps a lot with character feelings and such.

I'm really looking forward to the journey aspect. I really like adventures, so throw that in with fine laughs and I'm totally down for antarctica! Also, this'll be a treat for seiyu fans because man, the casts is loaded with popular names!

They better bring plenty of coats!!

Based on name I expected this to be scifi, but I am not complaining thus far.

Well, I can't help but to think that they took the title from Star Trek. Anytime Universe is involved, that automatically gets me thinking about something that involves outer space travel. But that's not what this is all about.

Probably a pun on M-WILL-ion, because Mari has no will, and Millions Ice does. So with a million yen, Millions Ice found Mari a will and a way.

A Place Further Than The Universe EP 1"One Mwillion Yen For Youth"

I am very impressed / After an excellent 2017 / My 1st anime of 2018 is quite good original anime done by Madhouse

The anime title comes from Shirase Kobuchizawa's mother's book about Antarctica who is MIA

This is kinda like Encouragement of Climb mixed in with Made in Abyss like Riko looking for her mother in a harsh enviroment

I am geting ahead a bit but this was al in the PV's anyway/ the VA's resues are impressive

Hinata Miyake VA Yuka Iguchi

She was Aoi Yukimura ( Main ) in Encouragement of Climb Good Choice

And more She is a fav being Index in Certain Magical Index / A Certain Scientific Railgun

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuka_Iguchi

Mari Tamaki / Inori Minase

This is another good choice the roles she has had especially Yuki / School Live ! and Chito from Girl's Last Tour Both those roles are like to the ends of the world

Some of my FAVS

Robot Girls Z / Gre-chan/Great Mazinger
Celestial Method / Noel
Miritari! / Sergeant Shachiro
ViVid Strike! Fuuka Reventon
RE Zero: /Rem
Re:Creators Meteora Österreich

Shirase Kobuchizawa / Kana Hanazawa

Anime VA Hall of Fame / there should be one

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kana_Hanazawa

Yuzuki Shiraishi / Saori Hayami

Another good VA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saori_Hayami

Mari reminds me of Chika Love Live Sunshine ( same writer ) with her snappy spirit but looking for something Her friend Megumi is very close

Going home one night a girl with same uniform drops an envelope of cash With both her and Megumi looking for girl with long hair Mari sees her goes into the gils bathroo, and who is quite upset The reaction was great whem she saw Mari with the money

Mari and Megumi talk about Antarctica and how she wants to go there

Mari after talking to Shirase and finds about her mother / her book / and she is missing Mari is interested / rescues her from bullies / and the wants to go too . She almost backed out afain but met up with her. They see the ship that is going there A bit earlier Megumi is kinda right you need to on an organized expedition A 3rd girl ( store clerk ) overheard Mari / Megumi talking about Antarctica (Shirase )and is looking at the bottom of the globe.

Antarctica being shaken down / bullied

Shirase says let's go

I got that vibe for sure. I love the facial expressions and comedic timing. But let's be real, this show had me at "Pudding is a drink." lol.
