For some context on what happened from a Youtuber:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFmSepfF48o

(If you want to see the Logan Paul video a google search can locate it but I don't recommend doing so if you are easily disturbed or triggered by death) (It's exactly as implied).

----

The majority of Logan's viewership base is young to older teens, Logan issued an apology below, Logan has a history with bullying in testimony that goes back years (He doesn't sympathize with others much if at all), it is posted everywhere in the suicide forest not to go off path, and he flew to japan with something in mind to begin with.

Personally, I don't care much for what people do with their life in their destructive behaviors... But Logan is symptomatic of a cultural thing that seems to pop up everywhere in America and never gets brought up and remedied. We seem to reward capitalistic ruthlessness because ruthlessness has an advantage over procedured success.

Success is glamorized to being the point of individual existence. Maybe in some way it is? Behaviorally have we become a culture of solipsistic individuals unable to see anything beyond personal goals? Or has that always been the nature of things?

More importantly, is there something wrong with us teaching members of society that people who display narcissistic tendencies (Like the Paul brothers) are acceptable? Or is that even the right question?

Was the body already dead or was the person dying?

Either way, that sounds terribly....something.

I first heard about this watching The Anime Man and Akidearest reacting to the video this morning. I'm not sure I want to understand what would drive a person to approach a dead body in such a manner.

Already dead so they filmed it and joked about it:

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42539715

Though the dead man was not identified and his face was blurred, the footage included close-up shots of his corpse.

In the video, one of the group with Paul is heard to say he "doesn't feel good", before the vlogger asks him: "What, you never stand next to a dead guy?", and laughs.

I was gonna make a thread about this until I saw this one, but jesus christ, what a sick fuck. "Oh, look, this person killed themselves. First thing I should do is record their lifeless corpse for my personal gain." How does one even get into that sort of headspace? I seriously hope they are punished severely for these actions, in fact I'm pretty sure they're criminal. The Paul brothers already have a well deserved reputation as obnoxious pieces of shit, but this is downright inhuman.

Okay, I'll stop rambling about how horrible these freaks are, because that'll probly start getting annoying, but what especially sucks about this is how they're making all the other foreigners look. As anyone who has worked in Japan can probably tell you, racial profiling is an all too common thing to experience. A sadly high number of Japanese people believe that all foreigners are loud, ignorant obnoxious burdens who have no understanding or respect for Japan and its people and when people like the Pauls not only go and give them an excellent example of that, but broadcast it to the entire world, it undermines the years and decades that foreign workers and students have spent breaking down societal prejudices. Is it fair for people to lump all westerners together because a couple of idiots came and embodied every single negative stereotype of the demographic? No, of course not, but these sorts of prejudices are broken down gradually over time by cordial and respectful interactions between the discriminators and the discriminated and when a foreign man comes to the country and does something so phenomenally disrespectful in front of a shitload of adoring foreign fans, that sets the entire process back.

I mean that video got, what, six million hits? To be honest, I would probably judge us negatively too if I were a Japanese person and this was my first exposure to people from outside Japan. Hell, I'm a North American who uses youtube frequently and I myself am left with an extremely low opinion of North American youtube users after seeing this shit. Some of you may think that's a bit harsh, but how else do you look at a group that supports this kind psychopathic, borderline-illegal display?

I'm sorry, I'm still not over this. What sort of mental disability makes people think it's okay to show a suicide victim's dead body to an audience of children? These people need to be kicked off of YouTube at best, locked up at worst, who the fuck does that?

Malignant narcissism? You don't do something like this without something wrong in your head in regards to empathy.

The only upside is he's 100% killed his career in anything outside of Youtube. No company is going to touch him with a 10 foot pole now.

I won't lie, the whole concept of "Youtube Celebrities" is so stupid. You let these kids, who are clearly missing a few chromosomes, film their daily dumbass adventures and give them money for it. The people who watch these Paul idiots (I didn't know there were two) are on the same wavelength. Maybe it's the cranky old man in me, but these youtube idiots really push my buttons. Exited the second I saw pewdiepie but I did google the incident and it's disgusting.

Well looking into it further I did find a video where he apologizes for his heinous actions through obvious crocodile tears, which iirc is a prominent symptom of narcisism as well as several other things such as bpd, so you're probably right on the money there.

I didn't mention this in my last post because it was already hella long, but isn't this guy one of the people who laments that youtube's adpocalypse has been harming his livelihood? How fucking priviledged do you have to be to complain that advertisers no longer want to give you enough money for you to straight up buy a house and then go and show footage of suicide victims on the platform those advertisers have their names on? Even a toddler should be able to figure out that that's not gonna put you in anyone's good books.

Well shit, I saw some headlines earlier and obviously didn't quite understand because this is 100x worse than I thought it would be.

And for those wondering, he typically gains about 50k subscribers a day and today he has lost about 3k. I doubt this will even really show up in his analytics a few weeks from now.

Why can't people just not care about it all. I think he did want the shitstorm and I'm guessing the other youtubers are only too eager to commentate on it so they can start cussing each other back and forth.

I wouldn't even look once to see if there are any survivors to the accident that I'm driving past.
