I watched the first episode last night and this is how I reacted ok........what just happened, who the hell, the what ?

I get it that it is an adaptation from a role playing game but the introduction of the characters and the story felt very rushed and in turn I don't even care about the characters and their power and that they are badass...oh well I hope the writing gets better becuase it felt very lazy to me.
Its almost as if it was written exclusively for those who knew this title. Not even my favorite seiyuu could save episode 1 for me becuase his lines were really bad.

Cannot really see the hype behind this series, it feels like I am watching a repeat of other fantasy shows. The guy lead reads off as nothing but bland hero stereotype.

Just looks generic, character design looks like it came from a custom character generator in Fire Emblem while containing underlying tones of 'animefan' pandering outfits.

Actually the main male lead reminds me of Bell except with all the interesting personality/quirks stripped out.

Sorry for not taking time to read all the back and forth and potential bashing. I know this is only episode one and not going to be the favorite of a lot of people, but this is one I have really been looking forward to. And personally, I really enjoyed it. Sure it might not be perfect. But it's solid. You can say I'm wearing rose colored glasses, but I have faith it will at least be better than a lot of the try-hard stuff we have had recently.

I definitely know I'm looking at it with rose colored glasses, but I don't care. I really enjoyed the first ep because it reminded me of some of the fantasy/action shows I've seen before. it definitely reminded me quite a bit of Scrapped Princess and Chaika, Rune Soldier Louie, Slayers.. that kind of feeling. and I absolutely love it.

I have to admit I was underwhelmed. Quite a few of the normal typical plot devices, the usual weird revealing outfit for a female MC for whatever reason, and all this set in a backdrop of senseless war (always a popular theme), which starts again for no real reason. Siluca (?) actually annoyed me a bit as a character, as the eternal better knowing character, who didn't once bother to check how anybody else might feel about her big schemes for THEIR future. She just went ahead and told them what they were going to do. But it was at the end of the episode, so maybe we get the explanations next time.

Ep 1

Generally speaking, I'm a sucker for a good fantasy anime. This one just didn't grab me as much as I had hoped it would though. Not to say it was a bad premiere but I found myself taking issues with a bunch of little things. It's nice to see that Theo wasn't the invincible powerhouse that I've come to expect from male MCs in the genre, but how on earth did he manage to terrify a troop of enemy soldiers when he could barely handle two guys at once? Maybe I'm being overly critical. It's still early days though and still plenty of time for my impressions to change.

The crests are interesting to me. I'm sure there will be a better explanation later on but they appear to be magical in nature? You have to be a lord to have a crest, and after defeating a lord you can claim their crest which I'm assuming means powers of some sort. Could be a pretty neat development.

Episode 2

Heh, they introduced the cat guy this episode. Siluca seems to have a soft spot for the character. First half felt rather boring tbh with just more buildup from some of the recent events.

However, I will say the episode gave Aishela a flashy appearance although I still can't take her outfit seriously. I've only read the manga version but they kept her personality pretty consistent in this episode.

Action was okay. To say the least, Aishela is a capable fighter.

The story still feels blend, hope that improves. The comedy is not funny, very cheesy in fact and awkwardly done with little value besides fan service.

Episode 2

After hearing about the previous lord losing to Theo another lord plans to attack and claim his new land. Siluca aware of this summons a caith seith to call a friend. Before the battle the friend shows up and her name is Aishela who was a apprentice with Siluca. When it came to the battle Aishela single handedly took on the army while Silica fought another mage she knew Moreno. Seeing the outcome of the battle Theo fights Moreno and beats him. With his mage caught the lords gives up and hands his crew over under the condition that he serves under him.

This episode we find out the reason why Siluca is serving Theo and Aishela is funny as hell. That kiss she sprung on that solider came out of no where but it was still funny. With more people serving under him, Theo's army is getting stronger. Things keep getting better and soon a red head will be in Theo's army.

Episode 2

Theo's first battle as a baron is a smashing success as he's able to get some powerful allies on his side from Aishela and her cat Balgary, to Lassic and his subordinates. The action was alright, and Aishela sure has an unusual fighting style. Not to mention, kissing an enemy on the battlefield. It's a good thing they are now fighting on the same side realizing that Theo's vision is something he's determined to carry out.

Good episode. Plenty of action all around. And that poor soldier that was kissed I think is going to be teased a lot now that they are on the same side.

Again left feeling I should have enjoyed this more. But it was like they were just a bit too heavy-handed about everything; the characters, the humor, the outfits, and even some plot elements. For example, while it is nice to have a strong female MC lead take charge in this kind of story, Siluca is just that bit too much in charge and Theo that bit too little in charge to keep the dynamic really interesting between them. Nor should a strong female lead mean a wimpy male second as a must who can't think for himself and follow a woman as leader as well.

So I guess what I'm missing is greater subtlety overall.

I will admit that it might not be the best show around, but it is far better than being the worst one. I wonder how big the hero's harem is going to get?

For something that feels so blatantly based off a mobile game, I wasn't expecting this show to be this good. And every character is enjoyable, the pace never loses a beat, the action and tactics are mostly sensible, and the plot continues to clearly center around the magegirl with a scheme as opposed to generic-kun#12345. This show feels like a keeper.

My one complaint would be that mageboy-kun is a failure of a mage. Invisibility and swordplay? Reroll rogue, noob.
