I'm surprised how well the anime style fit for this show.

I've only read some of the author's works but this anime so far really makes it flow. Souichi is a peculiar character that will catch viewers' attention. Even his voice is noticable and not to mention, he kinda has a prankster personality.

Fun stuff.

Feels like a mixture of dark humor and supernatural-thriller.

Episode 1

Well, I'm not into horror, but I decided to give it a go here. The horror aspect is nicely done, especially with Souichi and his spider antics there, first scaring Sayuri with it before getting a taste of his own medicine, and when inflicting a curse on Kawai as it looked like he saw a spider shooting web at him when in realty somebody was wrapping him in toiler paper. Anyway, I probably won't stick with this, but I'll give it another episode of this.

Episode 1

The first episode has to do with Souichi a strange boy that likes to do pranks by putting curses on people or messing around with his sister and brother. When he tried to help a classmate get back at someone he gets mad when he doesn't show any gratitude and decides to get back at him. He dresses up as a monster and tries to scare him but things don't go his way as he falls for a trap set up by a man. Lucky for him his brother came to his rescue and is not even thankful.

The show is suppose to be about horror but it's more comedy than anything. Also Souichi was really annoying and dumb thinking he's all great when his not. So far I'm not impressed by this show so will give it two more before deciding to drop it or not?

Narratively this was more weird than horrifying. Even the creepy doll short at the end just felt so far out of left field that the major feeling from it was, "weird."

Well that’s the thing. Ito’s works aren’t always straight horror. He has a lot of god damn weird works too.

I honestly enjoyed the art style of this series. Very Junji Itō.

But watchin' this first episode, I just can't put my finger on it. I've read "Hell'o Dollies" (the 2nd story featured) and I remember it being much more eerie than this. Welp, I'll just have to see how the rest of the episodes go.

This felt more like a comedy than a horror. It really reminded me of this horror show that I watched when I was a kid (just a bit gorier).
That being said, this bored me. I'll maybe give it a couple more eps to see if I'll continue watching.

This was an underwhelming first impression. The comedy, if that that's what they were even aiming for, was really weak. I think I would've rather watched a whole episode about that doll at the end than about Souichi.

I didn't know this was gonna be a comedy. Well, it was actually pretty enjoyable though somehow.

so yeah am hype! the opening song threw me off but it did have that psychobilly sound now I wondering what stories are coming (look up the collection numbers at the end of the ep lol) but wondering with we'll get "Hellstar Remina" "the Enigma Amigara Fault" "Army of One" or "the Principal post"? but we have to get "The Hanging Balloons"

I must be sleepier than I imagined. When I clicked on this show's thumbnail, I was expecting to see Juni Taisen's sequel. Obviously, it was a very different show.

Oddly enough, I found Souichi to be strangely endearing. He's a petulant and spiteful brat, who happens to wield a supernatural power. What a troublesome mix! I would hate to be in the company of such a person. But as a viewer? He's quite refreshing and different from most protagonists in my recent shows. I'm curious if he'll psychologically develop in a positive way (he can only go up from here...) and if the origins of his abilities are explained.

That "Wonted?" scene did crack me up. I didn't know its definition either, since I never hear anyone use it, but now I do. His family is a little odd. They must have seen him chewing on those nails, but they didn't say anything about it. Or it could just be a habit they've grown accustomed to.
