Sasameki Koto is a pretty good one too. I haven't finished it completely, but so far it's hitting me pretty deep in the heartstrings with that unrequited love angle.

For those who've been wanting to check out the Citrus manga but haven't been able to do so yet, we're finally getting them in digital format via Bookwalker with a release on May 8!

If the anime is not selling well, it's probably because of the price. I can't believe they are seeling it in 3 volumes and a single volume is like $US 68 for teh DVD and $US 78 for the bluray.

I'm not willing to pay that kind of price unless they are selling a whole season. Really, why should I ? Wwhen I can pay a small amount of money per months to watch it in HD as well as any other animes.

If I bought it, it would be the FUNnimation version because they are usually selling good bundles for the right price.

I still hope for a season 2...

It is crazy expensive but, believe it or not, that's standard disc pricing. In fact, some anime disc releases are actually only 2 episodes per disc.

If/when it gets released outside of Japan (which it almost certainly will be) it should be much cheaper (approx that much for the entire season not just a couple of episodes) partially because they know the vast majority of people won't pay that much. The only issue is that we likely won't be getting any of the bonuses that come with the Japanese releases. We'll probably get clean versions of the OP and ED and that's about it.

I know that the cost of living in Japan is higher then here, but I guess they sure lt got a good price from the broadcast companies for airing the series. Cutting the price could makes more sales. If the price is too high, you can't convince people that aren't fan to buy it. by curiosity. Like I did for the manga. If Citrus would have been 30$ by book, I would never bought it.

I don't mind if they cut the extras because most of the times they don't worth it. When I bought .Hack//Quantum, it came with extras, but none of it was worthy. But the price was fair, so I didn't regret it..

Oh, absolutely. The pricing is definitely prohibitive for all but those who already essentially committed to buying in (and who can afford to do so). I wish it were different not just for Citrus but for all anime series. I do wonder if the pricing really has been calculated in any way or if it's just priced that way out of some sort of "tradition." Like, if they did cut the price in half would it actually sell more than twice as many copies or if the total cash intake would be basically the same. I'd like to imagine they've done the math and actually tried it but who knows. I do believe that at least the first few episodes would sell better at a lower price.

I actually personally own very very few anime series largely for this exact reason. It's not that I wouldn't like to own more but it's just not worth it, especially given the easy access to legal streaming for most of what I'd want to own anyway.

No English Citrus discs (yet) but pre-orders have gone up for number of other titles that may appeal to us Citrus fans.

rightstufanime (and probably other sites as well) now has listings for:
Princess Principal (regular and deluxe versions)
Scum's Wish
Frame Arms Girl
Strawberry Panic

As others have mentioned I simply don't understand their sales model. Things must just be radically different in Japan, because anywhere else in the world if you charged half or even a third as much for the disks you would likely see far better overall sales. I can't even count how many shows I would have picked up if they has been 60 or 70 bucks for a season. Do you know how many I have bought at $200+? Not even one.

Wasn't this show one of the most watched shows on Crunchyroll? If so, then why were the bd sales so bad?

Highly watched on a non-Japanese streaming service doesn't really equal a large number of disc sales in Japan. I'm not sure how popular it was in Japan though it wouldn't be wrong to say that yuri is a more niche genre there (much more so than BL). Also, disc sales in Japan can be fairly hot and cold and don't always relate to how much a show is liked or how good it is. Discs in Japan are just very expensive with a season of anime on disc usually costing in the neighbourhood of $500 so even if you like a series you have to really, really love it to want to actually own it.
