Episode 1

Oh man, the nostalgia rush is too strong.

This brings back everything that the first series had and multiplies it further because of how evolved anime production is now. They even brought back some of the soundtrack too, which only adds to nostalgia.

I'm also surprised the seiyus returned since it's been such a long time. Glad to know they're still at it and everything. If there is a downside, it would be that this is catered to those who are familiar with CCS, so it could be tough for those who don't know about CCS.

As for the story; looks like it's cardcaptor time, but with a bit more fast pacing since things get heated real fast. Other than that, really look forward to what the clear card arc will show us!

Omg, I loved it from the beginning to its end.

Animation was top notch, same cast as the last season (that I find amazing since it has been sooooo long). And even though the plot of getting cards is the same... Who f***ing cares?? Is "card captor" Sakura, so it stays true to what it promises. BGM as last seasons stayed, and even some of the last opening of the series, "Platina" was played as background music @6:50.

Original "Platina" opening

10/10 and I can't wait to see more of my youth first anime ship: Shaoran x Sakura :3

MadHouse truly poured all of their love into this, and going to give it that HxH(2011) treatment. That was amazing, and its going to be hard for any show to stack up to this.

Wow. I think later events in the arc with Eriol and Tsubasa/xxxHolic made me forget just how saccharine CCS can be. Not sure I'll survive the arc at this rate.

that tech did seem a bit out of place considering the time between the ending of the first series and this one. smartphones, flat screen TVs and the amount of contrast is in the animation. Other than that it's really good. Welcome back sakura we have missed you.

One thing I am curious about is the cards themselves. what were they lke before they got cleared?

Like were they like tarot cards? Were they her spells?

I suggest that you watch the original series.

I don't even really know what to say after that incredibly perfect episode...
I remember when they announced the manga I was so skeptical about a sequel because Card Captor Sakura was my favorite anime of all time and honestly was wrapped up beautifully in my opinion but I am believer now.

I watched the original when I was little and since I was mostly alone these characters were so important to me (probably more
then they should have been) but they kept me going and damn is it good to have them back.

I've tried over the years to explain to people why this show means so much to me but it is difficult to put into words because CCS is
a feeling more then anything, it is the warmth and kindness of the stories and characters and the comfort it always gave me.

Sorry you guys, cheese levels are maxed out right now.

That was really good. I was hit with nostalgia and it felt great seeing the characters again. I love the style of the storytelling too with the light humor and character chemistry, especially between Sakura and her friends/family.

Kinda curious how they plan to adapt this with 22+ episodes though. The current manga doesn't have enough material to stretch the story that far so I am expecting original content coming soon.

As for those who are curious, you definitely need to watch the original series or read the manga to understand the story as it didn't seem to recap most events so it assumes you understand the franchise already. (skip the movies though)

As long as they continue their winning streak of good anime original content we should be good to go.
I agree with watching the original series but I definitely wouldn't skip the movies!

This was amazing!
The animation was GORGEOUS (especially the scenes wit the cherry blossoms), and I love Sakura and Syaoran's interactions so much (they're like my favorite anime couple and I love them so much aaaah). I didn't even watch this as a kid (maybe when I was like 13 or something so it was still a while ago) but this still felt really nostalgic.

I posted a review of it last night but it's with a link so I figured that I give my quick review here and if you want to read more you could go back to my previous post

QUICK REVIEW

Episode 1: Sakura and the Clear Cards

The hype was worth the wait as it's great to see all these characters again and them interacting with each other. While the story is kind of a repeat with the monster of the week trope then again the one that mastered this trope and has fun with it is Cardcaptor Sakura so it's given a pass and it does make me wonder how would Sakura and her friends would handle this new challenge. Animation is great, comedy is good (love Yamazaki and Naoko teaming up towards Syaoran) and that opening is fantastic. It's unclear (get it) if it's better than Opening 1 or Opening 3 of the original series but I could see people praising the heck out of it.

I do have some minor nitpicks with it but nothing too major except for the jump in technology. Now I'm not against this if an anime like this release today or even a reboot like Sailor Moon Crystals (to an extent) but this is a direct sequel to the original anime and having modern technology all of the sudden when it's only a one year time skip from the original anime is very distracting. I'll get over it soon as long as the characters speak and do stuff timeless like they did in the first series but having the characters taking selfies at the ending credits with even Tomoyo doing it with her camera kind of hurt my soul a bit.

Overall, despite my issues on some of the direction this is still fantastic and as a huge Cardcaptor Sakura fan it was finally great to see a proper follow up and getting the Cardcaptor Sakura brand back right into eyes of the public. Hopefully this will keep on going and I look forward to the new adventures of Sakura and her friends :D

IIRC, did anyone else notice how the first part of the episode was a total mirror of the very first CCS episode, even down to a lot of the lines? It really hit my nostalgia buttons the entire way through!
