Man what a trippy show, but in a good way. It reminds me a lot of those great cooky sci-fi shows of the 90s-early 2000's, like Sliders or Fringe, etc.

Also definitely one of the BEST OPs of the season, if not THJE best. It's friggin; FIRE

Definitely an interesting interplay between the horror and sci-fi/fantasy elements. Sadly I haven't seen Stein's Gate, but the art and general theme feels super similar. And yeah, the OP is a strong contender for best of the season.

So, I finally sold my soul to Amazon and got a Prime account. Well I needed some books for university (Prime delivery) so I didn't do it just for the anime, and I also got 6 months free which is nice ($50 annually after that).

But I must say, totally worth it. Kokkoku is fucking amazing. Finally a mature anime. It gives me the same feeling as watching Parasyte. Both opening and ending are awesome, and the main character is smoking hot.
Also, time to binge Made in Abyss and the others from last year.

Ep 2

So the creepy thing from the end of the first episode is known as the Handler and is more or less an enforcer of the stasis world. Makes me wonder if it can be killed or if you can run from it. Since gramps doesn't even seem to understand all of the rules of the world I can only imagine how terrifying it would be for that thing to appear without realizing you've done anything wrong. Scary...

I really like the explanation of stasis as being a single frame in a movie, meaning that to return to normal time and then jump back into stasis a moment later results in an entirely different world. It really boggles the mind to think about, and emphasizes just how scary a situation the family is in. The supernatural stuff is on point. I guess my biggest question now is what the hell are those jellyfish things? Good episode and super excited to learn more.

So much going on and done so well, this show is great and such a nice change from the usual overdone stuff we get season after season.

Episode 3

Juri's hidden power is unleashed as she can freeze those who are able to move in the still world by expelling the Specter within them. And the Handler strikes again as one of those thugs tried to kill one of the frozen guys. Then Makoto is suddenly able to move in the stalled world and he's acting rather carefree in spite of the situation. In the meantime, Takafumi is still captive, and Majima wants to meet Juri as she has experienced something like that before. Just when it looked like Juri and grandfather got away, one guy pretending to be one of the stalled suddenly attacks Juri. Lots of intrigue there as it seems that Juri has what she needs to get out of this mess. But of course, it isn't going to be as simple as that. That cliffhanger there, I wonder how Juri gets out of this mess.

The dad worries me. I hope his family is more important to him than his ego. Otherwise it'll be pretty easy for the cult-guy to manipulate him.
Juri can freeze people if she touches them with her hand but I'm not sure if she can control it properly.
Looking at the preview for the next episode it seems like we'll find out what the connection between the stasis and Juri's family is .

E3

Well, I suppose there's plot armour but the preview did reassure me somewhat - it's simultaneously nice & nasty to see semi-smart bad guys sometimes.

This was another episode with more info, with some inquisitive baddies, which is refreshing. It sounds like the Herald won't always be there to save the day, but the next ep preview had a really curious scene involving Majima and a Herald-to-be(?)

Again, the Specter went into the boy this time, so perhaps Juri's family are preferentially protected somehow. I was curious at why the tendrils popped out of the older brother for a moment, as if it was to leave him. Perhaps it was due to him wavering on accepting these beings at that moment.

I have similar concerns re the Dad as srlan23 above, though I hope that him rising immediately to get money to save his youngest son in ep 1 is a sign of his true character.

Episode 3

At the end of last weeks episode Juri falls into a trap and is strangled by one of the cult people while the other holds her feet down. This weeks resume but with Juri tapping into a ability that lets her push out the jellyfish from people and does so on the three cult people and manages to get away from them. Meanwhile at the cult base the leader has an experiment by having one of his goons try to kill someone only for the Herald to smash his head. This lets out the specter from him and goes to Makoto letting move in the stalled world. This is where we get the only comedy part in the serious so far as Makoto has fun in stalled world and this annoys Tsubasa as he can't keep up. Than we see some of the cult people stealing from a convince store when they spot Juri and go after her. Lucky for her she runs into grandpa as the cult people try to act that they weren't frozen to attack them. They weren't fooled and grandpa uses his ability to get away from them. In the end after getting away they pass by someone who acted that he was stalled attacks Juri.

This episode we find out that Juri is able to push out the specter form other people. They could also mean that the rest of the family has this ability or that each member could have an ability of there own? We also see a flashback that Majima does indeed know Juri and her family and that they had the stone all along. What else does she know? We will have to wait and see.

This ability is cool. Kill them, but not kill them (well maybe kill them). Let see how that MC armor saves her next week.

Oooh this show is so well written, usually something dumb from lazy writing makes me have a "c'mon" moment by now but none yet. Really anticipate watching every week.

Since the specter went to Makoto instead of the nearest person this time, I think it's safe to assume that the specters prioritize members of this family. I look forward to learning what the connection is between this family and the stone.

Apparently Juri forcing the specters out of people doesn't cause them to seek new hosts like what happens when the Herald kills someone.

Still one of the best and most complete and intriguing shows this season. From the story, to the art, to the music and setting. All just solid.

The OP and ED are both just so good imho.

My only real complaint, the damned cliffhanger endings.

Ep 3

I never realized that there were so many people in the stasis world. Other than the main family, I figured it would just be the bad guys and a dozen or so cronies. He's clearly got many much more than that. Some more cool info stuff gets divulged. The Jellyfish things being called specters and essentially being a human's anchor to the stasis world is cool. There is definitely more to them than that though. The Handler appears to get smaller every time it appears to kill a rule breaker too. All you have to do is bring some flunkies to the stasis world, tell them to kill someone, then watch as your biggest hurdle disappears. Interesting.

Juri has her own powers now too. Knocking people out of stasis is cool, but dangerous. At least it doesn't count as murder so she doesn't need to worry about the Handler showing up. I've still got plenty of questions but I'm confident that the answers will come and they'll be rewarding. The show has done an excellent job with that so far.
