Episode 3

It's go-time for Ai as she's taking the exam, and Ai dominates her first match that he faces off against a pro next and she beats Kuruno-sensei. Ai definitely has the spirit there as she's one to always keep going no matter what setback she suffers. So for her third opponent, it's Ginko and she's really strong, but of course, it's nothing that AI can't handle even though she's someone who is always hard to read. However, Ai uses up her time and has just a minute to make each move and she's making lots of careless errors because of the time crunch and while she puts up a fight, she loses. Despite losing, Ai is allowed to keep on playing shogi after Yaichi makes a plea seeing that her passion was on full display. I knew something like this would happen where Ai loses in the end but is allowed to stay on after proving what she is capable of doing as these were definitely not normal exam conditions, the need to win all three matches, much less having one of them against a top female player. Anyway, that was a great episode there, one that goes to show why this LN was so well-received.

That was entertaining. That match surely kept Ginko on her toes.

Kuzuryu is essentially engaged now, I guess unless Ai becomes god tier. Funny thing is that isn't even the biggest age gap this season.

7 years isn't that big of a gap, i'd feel pretty awkward about the situation seeing how young she is though, even if she wouldn't actually be marrying him until she turns 18 or something at the earliest.

Still an entertaining episode, Ginko's apperance at the cafe at the end was entertaining, if entierly 100% expected :p

Ai's father showing backbone was cool, even if it lasted for half a second until his wife spoke ^_^

My mother and father were eight years apart so the age gap isn't all that odd. Just the actual ages.

The way Ginko crushed Ai gives me mixed feelings. Of course she'd do it after hearing the teacher say Ai would be the best female professional in 1400 years. But then again it was rather mean spirited. And it pops the balloon of Ai being overwhelmingly strong. Things worked out but still.

Also, is it just me or does the shogi ranking system seem bent towards keeping women out of the professional league?

At this point, Ai's been playing real games for, what, a couple of months? Versus someone who's been playing for years, and is nationally known?

Ai is a monster. A cute little monster, but a monster nevertheless.

What an intense session of shogi. I hope the show continues down that path with a little comedy and hijinx thrown in for good measure. Definitely the best of the 3 eps so far. I will continue this one just to see where it goes.

I just hope along the way that ai can make friends with some of the other girls she is training with too.

I like how the MC is putting his life on the line without the end result being actual death.

This show is laying bare my utter lack of knowledge of shogi. I felt like the father. "What's going on? Who's winning? What did that move do? Wait, on the defense? How can you tell? She's attacking? EH!?"

The Ryuo's Work is Never Done! EP 3“Training Group Entrance Exam”

A good but predictable outcome / a lot more serious this EP

Ai wins her First match but then has to go the Class Instructor 7th Dan plays Pro

Some league pros come to watch as well as writers The Instructor ups the moves ans asks Yaichi to get his air purifer which he normally usus for pro matches

The instructor lose its 2 / 3 so far for Ai who has to win all 3 as per her parents demands

But her opponent is Ai's current real life nemisis Sora ( Oh my ) She is the 2nd Dan In her Pro group quite a feat for her age !

Even crazier Sora is 47-0 against all female pros ans she starts out very aggresive and quick

Ai pulls ahead and Sora retreats but goes into super serios mode o make matters worse Ai is out of regular time and has only 1 minute to make each move .Sora puts the pressure making Ai breathe hard / making mistakes

Sora also has learned to play hard by having over 50000 matches with Yaichi

But Ai starts making a comeback despite her inexperience and pressure from Sora

Ai runs out of pieces to play and admits defeat / Sora is not happy as she couldnt charge in and was more a win of by Ai's moves

Ai's mom teels her says that's it and say thank- you to the teachers / people she has met but Yaichi says let me be her instructor

Ai's dad makes the finak decision to ley Ai continue training / playing to become a pro

There's a catch though if Ai is not a Pro by middle school he will have to work at their Inn / Marry her XD !

Its understandable how Ginko got upset from that game, it was not an easy win and to be challenged by a trainee applicant.

But same , I am not very familiar with Shogi either and I do have Shogi board just to practice and remember. Its easier for me learn that way.

I'm glad Ai lost as I was expecting her to do a John Cena and win.

A really good show but I want to see Ai mingle with the young characters a bit more and hopefully the loli stuff doesn't crop up anymore.

Episode 4

Here comes a rival, and her name is also Ai. Ai Yashajin is dead set on becoming the disciple of someone who is A-rank or a title holder, and that's why Yaichi is being requested. So he meets her, and she has anger management issues, but her game is no joke. Yashajin happens to be the same as Rei as she lost her parents, and was taken in by a shogi pro, leading her to taking up the game. So after Ginko comes over with Ai's aunt, that motivated Yaichi to teach Yashajin to train her up to be a rival to Ai. Yashajin still has quite a long way to go seeing that while she has skill, she has the tendency to fall for traps by only reading the board and not the opponent, which is why she lost five straight at the shogi club. Seeing that Yaichi has been going out every Saturday that naturally Ai would be suspicious. Yaichi sure has found himself in a tight spot there seeing that another girl has asked for his tutelage, and he's spotted in awkward fashion.

Well, at least none of them were naked this time around. And if March Comes In Like A Lion
why can't this show have a blind one?

Eh... I do still really enjoy some elements of this show but I can't see sticking around for the season with things as they are.

I actually really like other Ai (idk her last name). She's a fun character, and I'm looking forward to seeing her grow.
Also I have no idea why she's doing this but it looks really cool (maybe I just wasn't paying attention lol)
