Just got a Roku over the holiday, switched from an Amazon Fire Stick when they removed YouTube.

Downloaded the Crunchyroll app two days ago but have been unable to get it to work.

After several attempts at linking/activating the app I was finally able to log in and activate the App, but it will not display any Anime titles to select in the Anime section, and the app continually crashes over and over again.

I'm using the 2017 Roku Stick and Crunchyroll 3.0 app.

I've deleted and reinstalled the app several times, rebooted my Roku and reset my internet connection.

Has anybody been able to get the Crunchyroll app to work on a Roku lately?

Has anybody been consistently having difficulty with the app?

I never had any problems with Crunchyroll on the Fire Stick.

I watch Crunchyroll on a Roku regularly and it works fine.

I'll list a few things, please don't get upset, I see that you've already done some of them, but I'll mention them because others might come here looking for help with the same problem, because you'd be surprised at what other people can over look.

1) You've set up your Roku account correctly to enable streaming services.

2) You've authorized the device in your Crunchyroll Account and set a streaming level that your system can handle (that was causing me issues at first)

3) You're in a country where the shows are stream enabled

4) You installed the app and let it run through all the updates

5) Maybe the silliest thing of all, turn everything back on in the right order. (3 Rokus I've dealt with seemed very picky about this) One, the router/wireless/cable box was turned off and reset, after the router was on and active, turn the tv/monitor/viewing device on, then turn the Roku on. For some reason it seemed the rokus were deciding they worked but they were not connected and showed nothing when out of that sequence.

I hope that helps, if not I am sure someone smarter will be along soon.

*Hey there's one more thing I just remembered, make sure if you're getting the Crunchyroll app it's a Crunchyroll account you're using, if you're on VRV, you probably need to get the VRV app.

Well, I suppose there's at least one positive here; I didn't know if it was the continuation of my internet connection acting wonky (where some machines/devices could connect out to the 'net, while others couldn't). If CR is the only thing I have trouble with, and their site is reporting issues, I at least know I don't have to replace my router or cable modem *this week*.

Thought it might be this, as my CR Manga app also can't connect.

Shisiosa, thanks for the detailed response!

Nothing at all seemed to work until I read your suggestions and went to the my video settings on my account on Crunchyroll's site and selected to display all mature content.

That literally fixed everything.

It's bizarre that their software doesn't allow shows to display/streaming to work without that selected.

Glad that's sorted. I'd suggest anybody who stumbles across this thread to check your video settings on Crunchyroll.com, be sure to allow all mature videos to be displayed or else it may hide ALL videos on the Roku app!

Glad to have been of help, and even more delighted to know it did help. Enjoy watching your anime from a big comfy chair with a beverage of choice in one hand and the remote control in the other!
