I would. I’ve stated before that I think people’s opinions of Deen are mostly misguided. It’s easy to blame the studio as a whole, but I personally believe that it’s either the fault of the specific anime’s staff or the constraining process of adapting/creating a series in general. Memeing over Fate/stay night's animation using the “deen finds a way” image is fun and all, but to ignore the effort put into series like Rakugo or the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs is kind of ignorant.

Anyway, I’m not watching Violet Evergarden until it’s finished because I would rather watch it in a span of a week than in 3 months. I can’t help but feel like I’m part of the Netflix problem in doing so

A simulcast would still give you that option though. Out of the many shows I add to my queue each season I typically only watch 4 as episodes become available the rest goes into my extensive backlog to be binged when I find the time.

Having to wait until a show is over because Netflix prefers to release the whole season at once simply takes away the option to watch episodes as they come out and take part in the excitement and discussion about them, especially when they do weekly releases for select shows.
Backing that whole thing up by stating that the majority of Netflix consumers binge series is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy when they don't have a choice for the majority of series.

I'll be waiting (and avoiding any discussions pertaining to Violet Evergarden episodes, because spoilers) because that's the only legal course of action I have but I'm a little worried whether I'll still be interested in the show when it finally comes out. I was pretty excited when Seven Deadly Sins started airing in Japan, I still haven't actually watched the anime nor do I intend to do so, the wait simply drove me to the manga and the excitement had died down by the time Netflix released the anime.

I honestly didn’t expect that part to be responded to. I said it in jest since a lot of CR members in this forum are angry about Netflix not simulcasting their exclusive anime (at least in the US). How Netflix releases their shows doesn’t concern me because I don’t particularly care to be part of the discussion nor do I gain or lose excitement as time passes. In fact, I’m still waiting for last season's Children of the Whales. Even after skimming through some discussion and opinions of the series, I’m still looking forward to watching it and forming my own opinion.

Anyway, I only said what I said because I wanted close with a statement involving the series being discussed as I was mainly talking about Studio Deen. I believe there are more appropriate threads for discussing Netflix, so if you have more to say, you should probably post there, especially if you want to avoid VE discussions.

This joke is outdated. Have you watched Rakugo?

Just watched the first episode. I feel like I should like this anime and it should be good but somehow it just didn't do much for me, I just didn't get it I guess.

Woo, it's here at last!
The first episode was a walking, gentle introduction to the series, but it was visually beautiful, as expected of KyoAni.

It does a good job of making me wonder what exactly is Violet's nature, as it's is unusual to see a girl not only be a weapon, but to also be in the army front lines too, and later shrugging off a severed arm .

Powerful words from the Colonel at the end, they weight of which just can not be conveyed perfectly in English.

That lady who wrote the letter though, damn, she's Fine.

Gonna have to see if anything changed, but I did watch the first episode at AX back in Summer and it was beautiful and amazing. The set up us good and of course the Kyoani eye candy is always on point.

Will rewatch when I have the time

I hate you for seeing it when I can't legally. Classic Swagger; always making JuJu mad

I'll wait until the end of the season to watch this. If Netflix can have it out, like...right after it ends in bulk, then that would be terrific!!

I think it is stupid for Japanese rights holders to allow an Eng. dub for a show to be allowed in certain regions but not the USA. They should realize the following: Netflix should get at least 2 weekly anime simulcasts each season and it is viewable to 190+ countries/territories from the start*. That is, barring country distribution laws (a country like China might block a lot of streaming sites) and time zone differences, those places should all get it the same day. If said seasonal anime show gets a weekly simuldub stream, it starts the same week that the 2nd-3rd subbed episode streams. When all of this is met, that is when I consider Netflix to finally have some competency with streaming seasonal anime.

As CR has a better established rapport with the anime community (depending on the circles), that's why this show should have gone to CR. Also, as there have been some recent seasonal anime that CR has gotten worldwide streaming rights to outside of Japan and China, CR could have done the same with this show. It be more interesting if such a distribution applied to even the "Violet Evergarden" Eng. dub.

*With them having over $1 billion in revenue, that "licensing agreements prevents us from showing in the USA at this time" explanation is baloney to me.

Hmm not really sure what is going on but it looks nice. The whole episode was pretty much a tease to watch more so you can find out what happened. Kind of felt more like the opening to a long movie than a first episode of a series. Calling them "dolls" and the whole arms thing (plus they're all gorgeous) I assume these girls aren't human? Well given how blah the rest of this season's shows have been this at least made we want to watch more.
