I just got off a live chat with Netflix . They said that it was not going to be released at all in the U.S. ! Not delayed , no release and blamed "Global licensing issue " . So they can take our money here & give it somewhere else . Guess that's how a lot of the non-U.S. members of CR feels a lot of times . I also pointed out how their advertising for it on the U.S. Netflix channel showed it available here but they just literally stopped replying . They pulled it on Star Trek Discovery , the Godzilla movie (it was shown to launch in Nov. too) and now this....

I think I will give this one a go, I saw the trailer in youtube and it was like, wow, I mean, WOW! It feels like back in the 90s when I watched Evangelion for the first time, I hadn't seen anything which such wondrous and stylized animation back in the day. Also I feel like the visual effects have been done right on Violet Evergarden, not to bake it up as quickly as possible but to make it look nice.

I ain't mad, Netflix is simulcasting and even simuldubbing this literally all over the world so they're full steam on the right track. I can't imagine they wanted to not have Violet Evergarden in the US, so if it's not their fault it's not their fault.

That's just RL sometimes; and it's not like this isn't the third KyoAni LN show to not get a simulcast in the US in recent years. Whatever's going on with that I doubt it's because prospective US licensees didn't make a solid effort.

Also the 1080p torrent is brilliant, would recommend even if you've already seen the 720. Coloring+detail is way better.

So i got the notification that it's finally on Netflix and decided to check it out as soon as it got the chance. I have to say, i'm stunned. The animation looks beautiful. Is this really KyoAni's work? Just wanted to say that, but yes. It's surprising to me, that's all.

Life hasn't been too rosy for Violet. Losing both her hands and getting them replaced? Maybe that new job suits her better.

But what's this? From the looks of it, it's going to be simulcast in there. Perhaps they're starting to make exceptions? Either way, i'm happy.

Finally, let's see if the speculations about this being number 1 on MAL when it ends are going to happen.

Star Trek Discovery unfortunately makes sense considering CBS is using it to push their streaming platform.

Hadn't realized they weren't going to show the Godzilla movie. That is irritating.

Violet Evergarden EP1 "“I Love You” and Auto Memoir Dolls"

That was stunning Kyoto animation / setting seems to be Europe time like a Post WW1

A good drama / animation just great / almost SOL type of anime with a hint of Sci-Fi

Violet is a doll ( Auto Memory Dolls) that was in the military and close to Major Gilbert but both were seperated with severe injures Before they part Gilbert tells her to live life to the fullest After recovering from her injuries including the loss of her arm she remeners Gilbert saying I Love You and tries to write a leter to him Ex-Commander Claudia come to take her when she is recoverd enough but is vague on the whereabouts / stataus of Gilbert despite he bennig a good freind of his too He tells Violet Gilbert left Violet in his care For Now ? Also the war is over leaving Violet w/o a job He takes her to a family relation of Gilbert who lost their son in a war but she kinda objects Claudia then takes Violet to his businees ( CH postal company / president.)which is a message writing / popstal service combined since the regular Postal Service is in disarray . He gives her a job and goes all out not only to sort the backlog of mail but deliver it at night and Claudia happens to see her and stops her saying she needs to act more like a regular human taking breaks eating etc
She thens greets a customerwho needs a love letter wtiiten and Violet thinking she might learn something takes him to another AMD wo werites a nice letter Violet asks Claudia if she can write ( type ) letters to find more about love other matters He says yes.

FYI Auto Memory Dolls:are not human

I need to find more specfics

The story revolves around Auto Memory Dolls: dolls initially created by a scientist to assist his blind wife in writing her novels, and later rented out to other people who needed their services. While the initial function of these Auto Memory Dolls is only to generate voices into text, a second group of people created a company that rented out beautiful talented women who, while having the same function as the original Auto Memory Dolls, also can perform military-related tasks.

That was certainly a first episode. It conveyed enough basic information to understand the world and a glimpse into the few characters it focused on.

The animation stuck out in comparison to a lot of other series in a good way. Looking forward to more.

The first episode was okay. The animation looked good (I'm not a big fan of KyoAni's style and I think they used too many filters but the first episode still looked really pretty). I like the post-war setting and Violet's new job could mean that the series will focus more on other character's stories and less on Violet herself. Or at least I hope that's how it will be because I don't care about Violet. She has no personality and seems more like an apathetic child and less like a traumatized adult to me. I also hope that the writing and directing will improve (it wasn't bad but I think there's a lot of room for improvement).

So.. should I just cross my fingers for some type of Blu Ray release? Doesn't seem likely that US is getting it, and I'm not about illegal streaming.. :[

Unfortunately, the U.S. is the one country being excluded from Netflix's simulcast. There's currently no legal stream here. You gotta wait until Spring if you still want to watch it legally by then. As for where we're watching it, it's on sites that can't be named here.
