Synopsis

Akira Tachibana is a soft-spoken high school student who used to be a part of the track and field club but, due to an injury, she is no longer able to run as fast as she once could. Working part-time at a family restaurant as a recourse, she finds herself inexplicably falling in love with her manager, a divorced 45-year-old man with a young son.

Despite the age gap, Akira wholeheartedly embraces his mannerisms and kind nature, which is seen as spinelessness by the other employees, and little by little, the two begin to understand each other. Although unable to explain why exactly she is attracted to him, Akira believes that a concrete reason is not needed to truly love someone. On a rainy day, she decides to finally tell her manager about how she feels... but just how will he react?

The first episode is up in Japan, but it's not up anywhere else in the rest of the world at the moment.

I know it is some touchy subject matter. And a subject I myself have been critical of and dealt with in real life, but first episode was really nice I thought. I dig the art style a lot. The detail of the restaurant was spot on too.

Something feels very old school about this show, but in a good way.

So far the characters all seem likeable in their own way.

I dig it so far, but I am a sap for romance.

Damn this show is pretty. I shouldn't be too surprised since it's Wit Studio. I haven't read the manga before so as long as it isn't too drama heavy then I guess this will be an enjoyable quirky romance story (although looking at the age gap, this will probably be drama heavy). "Official" subs will be out tomorrow on Amazon if I'm not wrong.

But if you are apart of the "dark side" then, you know.

I'm not really sure yet what to think about this one. It's potentially pretty uncomfortable territory but if the story is told well and things are allowed to develop naturally, it could turn out well. It's too early to call for me at least based on subject matter, but the first episode was pretty solid. The art style is a standout even if I'm not sure that I'm in love with it. Gorgeous ED song but that's to be expected with it being an Aimer song.

Great start so far. I love the amount of realism and character expressions from this episode especially coming from Akira. The moments when she reacted to the manager's family life is quite interesting to take notice. Not to mention, I like the character chemistry between her and Masami already.

The comedy is light so far but I'm surprised how real the episode felt. The setting, dialogues, and character interactions all have my interest so far.

Music and artwork works so far for this show too. The OP song is colorful while the ED by Aimer matches the mood of the episode perfectly.

The show went up on Amazon in Japan yesterday, but not the rest of the world. It's now up in the US: LINK

Episode 1

Pretty much, it amounts to a picture drama here with Aikra working as a waitress at a restaurant, and has taken a romantic interest in the manager Kondo. The way she shows her affection is really something there, all while the rain is going on in the background. Pretty interesting setup here, and what I would like to know is what that scar on her right ankle is all about. Kondo sure is clumsy when it comes to love, and at the very least quitting the cigs will go a long way. It will be interesting to see how this relationship goes give the huge age gap.

Thank heavens. I didn't know the English title was "After the Rain" so I panicked when I didn't see it! Thanks for the link!

Episode 1

The first episode starts with Tachibana being woken up by a classmate who likes her and wants to get her number. She doesn't pay him any attention and heads off to work. While at work she keeps staring at her manger who the rest of the employees see more of push over and slob. While taking her break Tachibana finds out that he is divorced and has a kid. She even shows his kid how to play the clarinet. The next day at school she has lunch and some friends come over to eat with her and ask what kinda of guys she likes. She tells them and they make fun of her because she's interested in older men. Not all of them are like that as a fellow classmate in the track club is worried about her. When she gets to work she asks Yui what kinda guys she likes and the manger overhears their conversation. When he goes to change he leaves his shirt and Tachibana goes on break she sees it and starts sniffing it and remembers the day she meet the manager. She is caught sniffing the shirt by the manger and acts like nothing happened. After work she gives him the hours she can work and leaves only to run into the boy that likes her and again pay him no attention.

The first episode started off to a great start. We get a flashback on how Tachibana meet the manger and how this lead to her crush on him. I also feel bad for the dude trying to get her number as she doesn't pay him any attention. I like the characters reaction as when Tachibana was caught she pretty much didn't know what to do but played it off like nothing. I can't forget the op as it's colorful and the ed fits the flow of the show. We can expect great things from this anime, but most of all the beautiful animation. Looking forward to more.
