Where are the Japanese people? Worldwide awards? You mean North American Awards? Anyways most of the judges seems to be of not the caliber for a worldwide award....Also do our votes even count? Do any judges speak the native language? Anyway I am sure they will do a good job, but why do we even need the judges?

It is a Western contest, so I'm not surprised that there are no Japanese judges.

Whether or not they are any good or not is another question. The choices last year were.... questionable at best.

Yeah, I basically take the CR awards as attempting to be the Western Anime Awards so I'm not too upset about there being no Japanese representation on the judging panel. And yes, our votes do count (for too much, IMO) as described on the Awards website which goes over some of the voting process.

I did not know my ancestry or racial background made me anymore knowledgeable on anime by default than anyone else. I thought my opinion was about as meaningless as anyone else's, Asian or not, "professional" viewer or not.

Well, we all know your opinion is worthless.

Citrus is a good anime.

Does that redeem me on some level?

I mean, Japan has got to have their own top anime list somewhere out there.

But I'm never thrilled to look at their lists anyways. Something like Eromanga Sensei will be #1 and then I just feel shame for them.

There's already a discussion thread about the CR Awards, so I've closed this one. Please add your thoughts there if you haven't already.
