In light of Recovery of an MMO Junkie I guess I'm a bit disappointed we weren't going to have another show with an adult gamer in the lead. He may be an adult inside but his physical age blunts that.

For what its worth he decidedly acts like an adult and part of the novels charm is him being presented with situations a teen isekai protagonist would get but react to them differently.

Well, at least the show isn't trying to play itself off as anything other than inoffensively generic. The "it's all a dream" premise right up front does help blunt the absurdity of just how powerful the OP starts off as. Seems like it's selling itself as a breezey adventure romp through an open world game fantasy, and from my impression from the manga that's exactly what it is. Aside from somone's desire to see what appears to be a faithful adaptation of the original story, I don't see anything from the art style or animation that really stands out with this show. Probably not something I'll stick with, but there's certainly worse this season.

I'll give the second episode a try but if they leave his voice pitched up like he hasn't gone through puberty I won't last. It really grates on me. The voice he had when he first showed up was perfect. (Why so many anime insist on making 17-18 year old boys sound like children is one of those things I'll never understand.)

Except it is absolutely nothing like smart phone stop spewing the same *knocks* that everyone else is spewing. perhaps look into the source material and one would find out it is actually not at all like the knocks people claim it is. but again that takes effort.

I enjoy these types of anime, its a somewhat common question asked by adults to adults, if they could do it all over again, would they? -- That reality is not possible, even if it were they would be stuck in this same lame world! The great appeal of these for me is the fact they are put into a world that is more befitting of them, with the exception of the one parody that has cursed all anime girls with blue hair that have a name resembling Aqua. -- This particular type really scratches that itch, no matter how predictable or seemingly generic, its something I will always enjoy, so long as the VA talent is there, animations are clean and CGI when used is high quality and strict moderation only.

This was ok, I guess? Nothing out of the ordinary for an isekai. The world mechanics seem pretty interesting, at least so there's that. I've heard that the source material is pretty good, so hopefully it picks itself up.
The one thing I'm most curious about though is how he ended up there, considering he just...dozed off and ended up in a fantasy world. Was it all just a dream? I hope we find out at some point.

sorry you feel we are "knocking" one of your favs but the first episode hasn't really done anything particularly interesting or different from any other "trapped in the rpg" show.

If it gets more interesting later fine, that's why most people give 3 episodes before giving up on something

but episode 1 showed us nothing we haven't seen before

Calm down, people are just giving their honest first impression of the show. If it feels like other shows, that's the show's fault not the viewer. If studying the source material was necessary to watch a show very few shows would get watched. Also attacking people for their opinions of a show will get you banned here real quick.

So... I liked Death March. However I think it's going to be my first casualty of waiting til the end of the season and binge it all. Not dropping, just not sure if I want to watch week-to-week I feel like there is a lot of detail here with the game mechanics and such and I will forget it all between weeks. And it's kind of slow paced like how Log Horizon started out.

I finally get to watch it this and I like it.

I like how it starts and develops. The main character is more realistic in his approach to what is going on although a lot is very familiar to others in the same genre however it doesn't make it less interesting to me.
I think the writing is well done.

I will follow this one
I tried checking out the light novel and it seem we jumped a lot , I wonder if they will revisit those parts

Update 1/17/18
also I started reading the manga which most of the anime adaptation is coming from there ...and I have read a tons of chapter

Episode 2

So after the big bombshell that was dropped last time, Satoo is meeting all of the girls who will become his personal traveling party harem. Pretty interesting approach this show takes with the game menu and other status trackers on-screen. Anyway, that was a pretty slow episode there, and while I hope things pick up, that didn't leave me with the feeling it will.
