What if you had an extremely open-minded family?

You would be surprised how closed to new ideas an open minded person can be. Turns out being open minded only applies to liberal ideas.

Bad, overall. They're my family, and I'd much rather they be themselves, as oppose to being soulless imposters. I am vehemently opposed to the common belief that "open-minded" is some magical cure-all for what is essentially the human condition. I also consider it almost poetically ironic to hypothetically wield "open-minded" as a tool for veritable brain-washing. Unfortunate implications and hypocrisy, and all that jazz. It's kind of funny how "open-minded" can be corrupted.

This. Especially when "openminded" is code word for "holding very liberal ideas/ideals".

Uagggh.. I hate talking about family.

Too much baggage.

Being strict sometimes is hard, but it's necessary to put limits on your children for their own well being and to help them develop. Parents shouldn't be forgiving of everything, despite the fact that it is what they desire.

Family does mean to some degree accepting other family members no matter what, so if you mean parents that just accept whatever shit you throw at them, it's not at all what it's cracked up to be.

The hardest thing though is trying to still be family when you and other family members have nothing to relate to each other through when it comes to interests or beliefs. No common ground is hard enough between two individuals, but it's especially hard when you are trying with all you have to establish that connection.

Personal experience there...

Some think it's a good idea while others do not.

I would not contemplate suicide on a daily basis.
