I'm not surprised. When I was younger Sam's club actually offered pretty decent discounts on products for members. However, in the last few years I noticed that the prices were no longer that good of a deal so I canceled my membership.

It's strange that their competitor Costco has been able to pay decent wages, provide health insurance and still keep prices low, they succeeded where Walmart failed. I guess the Walmart run model couldn't compete effectively in the wholesale club market and this is the result, feel bad for the employees of course.

This is why Costco works while Sams Club failed

http://www.businessinsider.com/walmart-firing-managers-report-2018-1

The retailer is removing 3,500 salaried co-managers and adding 1,700 assistant store managers.

Looks like Walmart is cutting people at the higher positions also.

the $1000 bonus

1- one time only
2- select employees

they are saving a lot of money on the recent tax reform so they are giving 1/3 or so as pay raise and bonuses
