The first episode is now up on HIDIVE: https://www.hidive.com/stream/hakumei-and-mikochi/s01e001

Episode 1

When you're small, the world just looks different seeing that these girls can do all sorts of things like hitching a ride on a bird. Pretty cute how those two are spending everyday life and finding new ways to bring joy to their lives. So after dealing with the bird, the two are out in the market where they visit all sorts of different places. Pretty solid way to begin this.

Is this like Made in Abyss? Just wondering because of the seinen tag.

I didn't know what to expect but somehow still ended up disappointed. It felt like I just watched 24 minutes of nothing happening. The only thing that caught my attention was the art style. Even without looking at the source, I could tell it was adapted from a manga. This art looks like actual manga panels but with color and animation. It reminds me of Kuzu no Honkai, which Lerche also animated.

I don't think I'll keep up with this show but I'll probably give it another episode just for that art alone.

I agree with Phantom, I felt kinda bored at times. The insects having voices was amusing.

Well wasn't that cute, old fashioned, lesbian, living Nendoroids. It would be funny if when they do make figures of them they look normal, LOL.

With the colors and tiny characters, I was reminded a bit of Secret World of Arrietty. Except this world doesn't seem to have any humans. Curious if the show is a slice of life; which would be sweet! I am particularly rather fond of slice of life in a strange setting. Not that I'm tired of the regular slice of life, but a change of pace here and there is always welcome.

I chuckled at the scene with Mikochi and the fabrics. That's a rather odd passion. She also seems to be quite the expert; as so many of the port folk rushed for her opinion. I'm rather curious about Hakumei. Master didn't recognize her, so she must be a recent companion of Mikochi. I imagine we'll soon get a flashback of how they met.

On a side note, I thought Mikochi's design looked like the chibi version of Machi from Kuma Miko:

Episode 1

I really like the calm fantasy atmosphere this series gives.

Masaomi Ando is directing, which is interesting because I've been keeping an eye on his directing style lately and I find his work interesting. He seems to be using the same paneling techniques he did for Scum's Wish here, which is again interesting.

Really like the two main characters since they have their own way of doing things and personalities laid-out so that we can gain a better understanding of how they act.

This'll be yet another comfy SOL with fantasy vibes, so here's to another good time!

No, this is a relaxing iyashikei show. Target market is primarily overworked salarymen. Most moe shows are from seinen manga magazines, although this one is far from typical moe.

I'm in this weird flux where this is the most hyped I've ever been for an anime, but at the same time, it doesn't need to do anything spectacular to meet my expectations. Going along as it is and following the manga will be just perfect.

Also, HiDive served it up in 1080p right on time at 8:30 AM Eastern. Nice!

I was aware of this but i didn't expect this to be so good. I could say this where my Friday kicks off, as well as my first choice for the hidden gem of Winter 2018.

Bring on the next one, i say.

Wow another cute relaxing show this season. There was something magical about this I felt, no pun intended.

The voice work is really really good. The art style is beautiful and charming, as are the characters and the world setting.

The direction of the show is very intriguing as JuJu pointed it out. It felt very much like a VN come to life in anime form. Very cool. Will definitely be keeping this one.

Ep1

Oh my gosh that was so incredibly adorable! I think I'm going into diabetic shock. Nothing really standout-ish about the show but the main characters are cute together and the music very pleasant. A great anime to save for a relaxed Sunday.
