Kinda crazy how much happened in this series already. At least Suupuushan is back to normal now.

The episode's action was alright. Taikoubou and Suupuu make a decent team together when they fight. Nataku is somewhat of an interesting character with his morals. I'm really curious to see how this anime will develop his character.

Dakki is still the Big Bad of this show so they'll have to deal with her soon.

They are moving quickly here.
buchuu returns tires to deal with Dakki but she got the king wrapped around her figher so Buchhu can't really do anything.

and nataku appears! He an interesting charater and a walking taking papoei weapon.

If I already knew the story and was just watching this like an OVA it would be fine, but not knowing what's going on, and not much explanation into anything (but mostly the soap-opera scene jumps) -- I'm out.

I love this series, but they are just cutting out too much stuff which is really sad because the stuff that happens is amazing. I definitely recommend the manga to anyone who thinks the anime looks cool.

As a fan though, it's still fun to watch. I just don't get the reasoning though if you're going to redo an anime, why not make it as perfect as possible? I get there is a limited amount of time they can work with, but there's really good stuff being cut out. Bunchuu's backstory being abridged to a few quick still frames was disappointing. Also, the scene where Bunchuu confronts Chuuou, it was done much better in the original anime. It had a lot more emotion between characters because you really saw Bunchuu's anger and how Chuuou is scared of Bunchuu and also just completely infatuated with Dakki.

Probably going to end up as a "watch the first series up to a certain point and then watch this" for those who want to watch the anime.

I really just hope that they don't cut out Kou Hiko's wife and sister from the next episode because that storyline is one of my favorites. Really well done in the original anime as well.

Poor Chuuou's wife didn't even get anything this time around. Well, you can see how little he cares for her at least.

The Shisei had a cameo which made me very happy since I love them.

I so wanted to like this anime when I heard about it. It's just the sort of thing I like with its mythological elements. I was hoping episode one was just trying to rush through some preliminary stuff before settling down to tell the story properly. Episode 2 proves that hope wrong. And it didn't help that it started out with two nearly identical guys fighting and I have no idea why or who is who. It's just too confusing.

Honestly, I'm really boggled by the way this anime is being done. Why would you adapt a decades old manga this way? There seems to be no idea of drawing new people into the story. Is it solely for the people who are already fans? Why? It just doesn't make any sense.

But the very little I was able to glean does have me interested in the story. I believe I'll go read the manga.

I know the feeling. They cut out so much and rearraged some story stuff.

I'm really miffed Kibiko is missing in action. she my fav char!

I'm going to keep watching thought... Looks like they want to do all the acrs they didn't do the first time around.

Episode 3

Here comes Yozen, and he's got a bunch of tests for Taikobo, the first is that he appears disguised as Dakki, and Taikobo saw through the illusion. While that's happening, Kashi and Koh Shi fall to their deaths rather than submitting to Dakki's mind control. And then Taikobo is tasked with leading a bunch of people to get across the gate. And then Buseioh comes that is actually Yozen in disguise, and he lets the guard know that he's a fraud, but it was all part of his plan to get everybody through. Well, that was pretty underwhelming to say the least, and there were just so many disjointed things going on.

With an anticipated 23 episodes, it feels the foundation for the story – the political landscape, character connections, even cultural expectations – is a bit unstable at this point, and has been thinned too much (assuming the novel/manga go into much more detail). The reason and importance of the double suicide, the challenge by Hiko and that pivotal point, were left fairly obscured. A few words here and there to explain those sorts of actions would help with understanding their implications... The deeper the foundation, the more it can support.

Episode three was SO much better than 1 and 2 and next episode has Hakuyuukou!! He is one of my favorite characters. And the Shisei coming up soon!! I love them too.

My husband was also confused by the scene with Kashi and Koh Shi, but it's actually really simple. Buseioh is a threat to Dakki since he is immune to her temptation (I believe this was one of the things that was skimmed over in episode 1, but yeah, he's immune to it for reasons that may or may not be stated) and he doesn't like her, knows she's evil, etc. So she needed to get rid of him but can't just outright kill him either. I can think of a few reasons why... the Buseioh is respected by a lot of people, so if she killed him that might make people pissed off at Chuuou and perhaps she can use him to manipulate Bunchuu later if he gets out of control.

Obviously spoilers for the episode...

I can't get over the background art in the anime. It's so beautiful. At least we have some really beautiful backgrounds.

The pacing has really slowed down thankfully and this week eps 4 Taikbou meet Ki sho and we learn his very tragic backstory

and Tenka goes to help out his dad!

If Dakki invites your over to eat. Don't go. Just don't.

I was surprised and very happy to see the cooking scene was kept. XD

Hakuyuukou... as expected his story was done better in the original anime. >< But he was as handsome as ever!

I'm so excited for the Shisei battle next episode!

I wish they didn't cut out so much, but it's still fun to watch. I'm so happy Tenshou and Bukichi get to be in this one!

I'm wondering if they're going to bring Ou Kijin into the anime at all at this point. It seems they've completely cut out the princes too....
