Yeah, for not being a "G" and knowing what songs are "hot" or "hip" and not being able to dance or play basketball.

Mehh, yeah. Everytime I go to the Philippines for vacation, it's like everyone gets jealous of me all of a sudden >.>
They look at me and say, "Go back to the United States, you speak better English that Tagalog." Well, it's not my fault
my parents decided to move to the United States when I was four yrs old.
I hate the fact that they call me "fat". >.< Just bcos I have meat on me doesnt mean that I'm f/ckin obese. Look at the Filipinos in the Philippines, they're anorexic SKINNY! Like walking sticks EVERYWHERE o_O Sorry, but I like my body.. I dont wanna look like an anorexic freak of nature. Anyway, they also look down on me bcos I don't speak Tagalog as well as them; when I do I have an accent. I can speak it fluently, but I have an accent >.< Bleeh, boo you. At least I can speak the international language well.

I can relate SO much to you!
I am Filipino and Spanish(spain)
I am learning tagalog , but i hardly know any spanish
my filipino friends at my table are like "hey, you are spanish.. thats white! you're half white! haha"
but arent filipinos a mix of spanish and asian? or spanish and chinese?
so you are just like a filipino/filipino or spanish-chinese/spanish-chinese if you really think about it.. i think haha
and i am like spanish/spanish-chinese or spanish/filipino...
omg i am getting myself confused here lol

I'm Puerto Rican and I've never been discriminated against. But for some reason I hate latinos and latinas, probably because of they're arrogant attitude and pride.

Yeah, I got that when I went on a vacation in the Philippines over the summer...
-They made fun of my Taglish (Tagalog and English)
-They called me chubby (but later added sexy) when I'm just curvier than the rest of the girls (I'm not fat!)
-They actually questioned my tan skin... "Shouldn't she be 'whiter' because she lives in the US?"
-They poked fun of my wavy hair ... just because they can't do anything with their limp hair.

Ugh, it was annoying... but even with all that, they kept telling me, "You're so maganda!" T_T

First off, all you people here know too many languages! Congratulations!

Back to topic, yeah, I have been discriminated against. Surprise, surprise - I'm actually 100% Japanese and I look it, too; no deformities or anything, BTW. Just a pretty normal Japanese-looking girl: only 156 centimeters, long (like down to my knees) black hair, brown eyes (they're kind of light, but still normal), usual Japanese features. My worst crime is being overweight - not obese, but my mom is horrified because I have prom this year.

The thing is that in Japan, different things are wrong things - the words 'different' and 'wrong' are actually the same word! It's even more so when the threat is an interior one. I mean, they tolerate foreigners as somewhat inferior or vulgar people who don't have the rich cultural background they do, but that's okay because they look so different, who can expect them to fit it? But I look the same as them, so I'm more of a threat. I'm also one of their own, so they think it's okay to look down on me and reprimand me.

This gets me lots of looks when I walk around with my nose buried in a book - an English book. Even more so when I say something in English or talk to myself in English (I have a bad memory so I use verbal repetition to attempt to cememt it in place. I got cursed at several times for being an 'abomination', I think the word was. (At the time I wasn't particuarly fluent in Japanese yet, especially in swearing. I love how the ones who do this are the older, respectable-looking male salarymen; they knock you aside in their supreriority and don't give you a backward glance. (The younger ones are much better; the scary-looking punk rockers or emo-cum-goth ones are much nicer.

I'm so sorry you have to live with all that shallow negativity and discrimination. You must have suffered so much, please don't ever change who you are just to appease others. Even though I've never been discriminated against by my own kind, I know that discrimination is everywhere and there is no escape from it, now it's just a matter of time.

So what if you're a bit overweight, it doesn't make you any less human than me or anyone else. You bleed, I bleed. You feel, I feel. You die, I die. There is nothing different about us all, except where and when. I don't know where people get the audacity to make assumptions and believe they're better than others just based on trivial things that don't have any influence on they're life at all.

I'm sorry for the rant, but I think you should keep your head held up high and stay proud of who you are and where you come from. Stay true to who you are.
