What can we expect for Generation 8 of Pokemon games?

Many location in Pokemon games are inspired by real world locations.

The first four generations featured different parts of Japan.

Generation I : Kanto (the real Kanto region)
Generation II : Johto (Kansai region)
Generation III : Hoenn (Kyushu)
Generation IV : Sinnoh (Hokkaido)

For Generation V and onwards they started to feature locations outside of Japan.

Generation V : Unova (Manhattan)
Generation VI : Kalos (France)
Generation VII : Alola (Hawaii)

What part of the world will be next to inspire the next location of Pokemon?

I got an idea for a Pokemon Game

Pokemon Light and Pokemon Dark

The region is based on the entire United Kingdom.
The game introduces a new mechanic called Burst Moves and Burst Evolution, where a Pokemon performs these Burst Moves and undergoes a temporary evolution. This kind of evolution does not require any items for the Pokemon to hold.

Pokemon characters

Player
The Player character depending on the gender. The Male's default name is Ben. The Female's default name is Alice.
Get to pick starter Pokemon first in the game.

Player's sibling
The counterpart character of the game. Ben if you pick female, Alice if you pick male.
Always choose the starter Pokemon that is weak to the player's choice.

Rival
An aloof boy who is the son of Professor Willow. His default name is Ace.
Always choose the starter Pokemon that is strong to the player's choice.
His goal is to surpassed his older brothers some day and stop living in their shadow.

Professor Willow
The Pokemon Professor who studies Burst Evolution.

Elite Four

Gretel - She is a ghost type specialist. She is a self-proclaimed witch who practices magic and fails every time.
She is about 15 years old

Fay - She is a fairy type specialist. She is the leader of her idol group PKMN48 and the top idol of the entire world, because of this she has a fan club devoted to her filled with male fans who has a crush on her, but too bad for them she's interested in fellow Elite Four member Draco, who is also her childhood friend. She owns a Pikachu Pop Star that serves as her co-star.
She is about 15-16 years old.

Morgan - He is a dark type specialist. He is the CEO of the O Group, a huge conglomerate that operates in the region.

Draco (Ryusei in the Japanese version) - The strongest member of the Elite Four, he is a dragon type specialist. He is a young detective that helps with the International Police from time-to-time and great friends with Looker who he works with from time-to-time. He is Professor Willow's son and Ace's older brother, but unlike Ace, he's more humble but cautious and suspicious of others. Like Fay, he has a fan club filled with female admirers, much to her disdain, lucky for her that he's not interested and seems to be focused on his detective work. He always want to seek the truth of every mystery in the world. He has a hobby of researching Legendary Pokemon, seeing them as the biggest mysteries to solve, and also why he became a Dragon Type specialist as most of them are Dragon Type Pokemon.
In the game he has a major role in supporting the Player character in fighting Team Order.
He is about 15-16 years old

Champion

Arthur - The current Champion of the Region, he is Professor Willow's son and the eldest brother of Draco and Ace. He has an outgoing and friendly personality compared to his brothers, he is the current CEO of Poke Corp, the leading manufacturers of Trainer Goods. His signature Pokemon is Pikachu, who also serve as the mascot of his company.

Well I'd say they'd probably want more new Pokemon than the 3DS games made, to make it feel like a big deal. Really there isn't that much else I can predict since we got even less than Prime 4's "now in development" screen to go off of. The region could be based off anywhere.

I hope they make better games than S/M and US/UM. Sun (the one I've played) was the most disappointing Pokemon mainline game I have ever played. They really messed up a formula that was doing them just fine.

As for the region, I really hope they do somewhere North. There have been too many tropical/warm regions in the Pokemon games so far. An Iceland region or similar would be neat! Otherwise, go back to Europe.

I haven't thought of the name for the region for Pokemon Light and Dark yet, but it's based on the United Kingdom.

In the Pokemon World it is located north from the Kalos region like how the real life United Kingdom is situated north of France (where Kalos was inspired from)

The capital of the region is based on London.

There's a lake with a legendary Pokemon that is based on Loch Ness.

The Pokemon League is based on a castle that is based on Camelot.

Team Order

The villainous team featured in Pokemon Light and Dark.

They are team who's goal is to bring order to this "chaotic" world, and believes that ruling it in an iron fist is the best way to do it.

I'm gonna guess that the next game might take inspiration from Australia. There's a fair number of landmarks there, and the geography would be perfect for taking advantage of their newfound processing power on the Switch with some larger areas. Plus, plenty of animals to take inspiration from. I'd also throw out Canada for the same reasons.
