It seems like they’re officially licensing titles again, Konohana Kitan being the big one. Honestly I don’t know how I feel about it, I still don’t trust them... What do y’all think?

Also to note Stu Levy still owns Tokyo Pop.... definitely not a fan of him.

Please don't just post a link as a thread starter. Summarize what the link says and say a few words about what you think about.

I hope they'll bring back the original Pet Shop of Horrors series.

Hmm wait and see I guess.

Though maybe this means that some of the series they once held the licenses for will get picked up again and finally get fully released in English here in the states. I can think of a few series I'd like to see finished out.

I'm really interested in "Konohana Kitan" but the antics of Stu Levy really sour me on this license. I have a lot of unfinished Tokyopop releases thanks to his completely random stupidity.

I'll probably hold back on buying anything they release until it's actually finished. (Of course, if a lot of people do the same, then sales will be bad and the manga will cancelled anyway! Catch 22 BS sucks!)

I'm really out of the loop on Tokyopop. Why does everyone say they don't trust them?

I liked a lot of Tokyopop's English-language originals and the "Rising Stars of Manga" anthologies. But I definitely have some resentment over the unfinished stuff. So we'll see, but my expectations aren't all that high.

Long story short, they licensed too many series (a lot of them did not do well), poorly translated releases, and Stu Levy did a lot of things that pissed off the fans and made them lose trust. All of this eventually led Tokyo Pop to go bust and left couple of their “good” manga series in unfinished limbo.

A lot of people, myself included, are still bitter at Tokyo Pop.

If Tokyo Pop releases manga that I want to read, I'll buy. (It is cheaper than buying merch to support mangakas, anyway.) I also have a lot of series unfinished with their name on it, so finishing those would be good too.
