Ok, I finished the TV show (note, there are still 2 more episodes left for Summer) over the weekend...and it was rather underwhelming.

I didn't really feel attached to the story at all nor the characters. It seems the entire season made way too much emphasis on Nero (Red Saber) and Hakuno than anything else. Some of the characters that appeared from the Fate franchise were a big letdown for me for their roles. Not to mention, I think the directing of this show in general just wasn't good.

On the other hand, I think Shaft did a great job at animating the action scenes while putting their talent into the unorthodox style of production work. Shame to say for me, this was another mediocre Fate series.

^ Isn't it 3 more episodes?

Nero sums up most people's reactions to this series:

I've personally been enjoying the series from the beginning and loved every minute of Nero being on screen, especially in the recent episodes. Could the writing and directing been handled better? There's no doubt it could've been a lot better. I think the biggest flaw is that it requires some knowledge of the game to get the full context of what's going on with the characters, but even with the stuff I've read about the game, it's still not enough to completely understand the story. However, I also think that by this point most of the important information has already been revealed with the only major mystery left being what exactly happened in that fight in episode 1. Some of it can be guessed with the information already available and there's still time to explain since the final fight will likely contain at least some answers.

Overall, it's nowhere close to perfect but it's still good. I'll reserve my final judgement for when the last few episodes come out in July.
