Okay so I actually was getting quite a good bit of money on Monday, just had to go pick up my check. I was literally thinking about this days before that I might as well buy crunchy roll premium again since I want to contribute to the anime industry, and One Piece, Black Clover, and DBS are animes I like to watch. I figured I'd get premium until DBS ended just for 1080p.

Now remember, as of yet I didn't renew my premium member ship... but today DBS became premium only again. So let's just say that really grinded my gears. To cut a possibly ban worthy rant short, I'm not ever contributing to crunchyroll again unless DBS is made free up to it's end. Now I may be one guy, maybe my opinion means nothing, maybe the community will condemn me for saying this. But I don't care, for me personally I'm just tired of the issues with this site. I had premium, and when DBS was uploaded on bootleg websites before crunchyroll due to server load, I decided that was it. But you guys made the right choice to make OP and DBS free since they're so popular. God only knows why you decided to end this.

Either way, that's that. If crunchyroll doesn't make DBS free again, I'm not putting another dime, view, or recommendation to this site. This was the straw that broke the camels back.

The episode will be available for free users ~4 hours after the launch for Premium users.

non-premium users can still watch dragon ball super. you only need to wait a few hours.
paid users having priority access over non-paying users is expected, and has been how CR operated in all airing shows, but for some reason, they allowed simulcast to non-premium users before. as one would expect, the huge amount of traffic routinely crashed the servers.
that's the reason for the change, and honestly, it's only a few hours of delay. have some patience, or buy premium if you can't wait.

Sorry but Crunchyroll should just have improved their services. I understand whats going on now.

The services are fine as are, until thousands of people are all trying to hit the site at the very same time.

So instead to prevent that happening, they delay the release. However DBS will be over soon, and yes it probably will happen again. But to do this instead of improving the service still doesnt sit well with me.

So let me frame this a different way.

I'm going to watch DBS on a bootleg / unofficial source because crunchyroll has chosen to delay it. This hurts DBS profits, but who cares. They're too big to improve our service for? or at least account for it when we may be able to predict it?

whatever.

Their decision to make Simulcast a Premium service is what prompted me to finally sign up. I think it was a good move. Why should they spend money on upgrading their services for a bunch of freeloaders who don't contribute anything?

And come on. You were going to sign up anyways, now you have another reason to do so. Don't be salty just because Crunchyroll wants to stabilize their service for the people who actually help make it possible.

Umm did you read what you wrote? "The services are fine as are, until thousands of people are all trying to hit the site at the very same time.

They did remedy the site crashes by making Dragon ball super premium for a few hours. That's how they stopped the thousands of people visiting at the very crucial time a delay.
Other wise what would you suggest? A queue system like the ones mmo's have?

People seem to think more servers will fix CR's overloading problem the problem is CR's core is at fault and needs to be reworked or completely rewritten. New servers are just as waste of money as the same overload fault will mirror on any new servers too.
That's why they are looking for other ways not just to be cheap. Also what gain does CR get out of spending money on free users?

So what do you do?
1. Pay option rewite the entire sites code just for the 1 day a week when you have a issue. Also would it be still be worth it once DBS finishes?
or
2. The free option restrict one of the issues causing it?

If I was CR id be doing option 2.

A 4 hour delay is considered nothing specially considering every other show (except for One Piece) has a 168 hour delay.
Also note: If there was a emergency broadcast in Japan for some reason (natural disaster, North Korea etc) at it's air time it would be delayed for longer then 4 hours. So look at the glass like that.

If you have friends who post spoilers on their social media then mute/delete them.
I haven't watched any DBS at this stage (due not not finishing DBZ) and I haven't come across any spoilers. I don't even know what happened in DBZ for the episodes I haven't seen and that show is how old? Unless you look you don't find.

It would be a completely different bag of fish if free users paid the same amount per month in ad revenue eg watched $6.95 a month in ads.
