Let's put aside the awards for the moment and discuss the season as a whole.

For me, I was a little disappointed with the season's showings. There wasn't too much that was spectacular till close to the end.

My queue was kinda empty for the season, with a lot of things to catch up on from 2016. The strongest showings for me were Atom and some of the Amazon shows such as Inuyashiki.

it seemed like a fair number of sequels also showed. Food Wars was nice to see a new part of, though it seems to be losing a little steam.. (three seasons though). Wasn't as impressed with Attack on Titan season 2.

I was ecstatic to see another season of Hell Girl, but it was a mere 6 eps (as opposed to 26 in previous entries), and 6 repeats. It also quit its usual format and theme in favor of simply wrapping things up with Ai and the gang, which, although nice, wasn't really necessary.

The big hits for everyone seemed like some of the best offerings to be sure, but they seemed like they were missing something, and plying for more seasons. LoL was great, but with the way second seasons have been lately, I'm afraid of it falling flat during round 2. MiA was all right, but too kiddie in a way. It kept reminding me of Shin Yori Sekai "lite".

World end was good, and even solid. Another interesting exception in a season of "meh".

Really had a hard time getting into Dies Irae. I just couldn't care about the characters. Juuni Taisen had the same effect. "Oooh... people dying... " a story and a death an episode didn't really work, and it was such a short bit that I just didn't care about anyone involved.

King's Game had too many moments that bordered on bad hentai plots for me. Sorry, but I don't need rape and NTR....

Akashic Records was fun, and I liked magic theory. THAT was a different take and pretty damned nice.... I wish they ran with it a bit more somehow (though I don't know how they could. Nevertheless it seemed like it had a bit more potential)

Chaos Child hurt. I was one of the few that could get enjoyment out of Chaos Head. This........ This sucked even worse for me.

2018 is going in strong, but a lot of it is playing to nostalgia.. CCS, Devilman, and Kino are all revivals of long since gone series. Great in their own respects, they're still playing it safe with what is known to work, and reminds me of hollywood's obsessive remakes.

Still, it's only a month in and we have still 11 more to see what is yet to come.

Anyhow, what do you think?

2017 had MHA in it. It was a great year. Gundam, Tsukigakirei, Just because, Tales of Zestiria, Konosuba, MiA, Hitorijime my hero, Super lovers, Garo etc etc. I had something in everything. It's also the year where I went to see the most anime movies ever. Ranging from A silent voice to Fate. It was awesome!

2018 is already amazing and it just started lol. And also 2018 has MHA s3 and a MHA movie. It's going to rock.

This is a very subjective and so Im basing my feedback on the titles CR has.

I thought 2017 is like any other year to me, there are titles that I enjoyed watching so I am satisfied with it.

Looking back, I feel 2017 was a very very strong year for anime. Some seasons were stronger than others and there were definitely some disappointments but that's the case in every year. Every season in 2017 had at least a few shows that were must watches for me and there were things to enjoy in pretty much every genre. There were even what seemed like more than the usual number of shows that I know I'm going to care about and remember for a long time to come.

Plus, I'm very happy that 2017 felt like the year where we finally started seeing more actual shoujo-ai and yuri anime and less stupid teasing and baiting. Not all of it was good, of course, but much of it was and in this case it's almost enough to just see the increase in quantity.

2017 anime was full of disappoints, unexpected surprises, and seeing old friends again.

I liked it.

2017 is too big for me to remember all of it though, especially Winter.

50% boring nonsense, 45% absolute crap, 5% series with potential.

Unfortunately almost everything is just a giant commercial to go buy the light novels or manga. Hard for me to get into a series that just abruptly ends with no closure.

It's going to happen every year when there are great shows and there are going to be duds. Lots and lots of duds. That said, it was a pretty strong season overall as it contained several exceptional shows like Made in Abyss and Ancient Magus' Bride, while it featured sequels that do great justice for top-tier shows like Rakugo, AOT, MHA, and March Comes in Like a Lion. And there are lots of other great shows like Iron-Blooded Orphans, Tsuki ga Kirei, and Konosuba.

Breaking things down season by season, winter appeared to be an absolute dud of a season, but it turned out surprisingly well with shows like Kemono Friends, Interviews with Monster Girls, and Saga of Tanya the Evil exceeding expectations. Spring was a very disappointing season, but at the top there was AOT and MHA to counteract the disappointments like Sword Oratoria, Clockwork Planet, Sagrada Reset, and Berserk. Summer was lacking in top-shelf material, but it had plenty of good shows. And then Fall was a pretty strong season overall. So yeah, in all it was a good year with a fair share of great stuff while there were also lots of not-so-good stuff that's part of every season.

It was a good year. Plenty of good ones, few surprisers. Some were average, some were bad. In my opinion, spring was the weakest (with some exceptions) while summer was the strongest.

2017 was a strong year in my opinion.

I liked a lot of anime that came out last year; I can't even remember most of what came out in 2015 or 2016 in comparison...
