I can't log on to the wiki, it says to use your crunchy account, but when I go to log in it shows that it recognises my username, but my password does not work... Am I doing something wrong. I would very much like to help out in the anime section for one, I have extensive knowlege of a few of the ones that are still red, but I can't log in. :tears:

Can someone send me a pm to explain this, I will forget to check back here...

I looked at the wiki feature and I was appalled. Why are all the Taiwanese Variety Shows and Dramas listed under Chinese?
Although they speak Mandarin, there is obvious differences in the language (both verbal and written). Plus, they aren't the same country. It angers me to see educated people as yourselves that claim to love asian culture, but yet classify Taiwan and China as one.
I wish someone will edit this sad occurrence at a later date.
EDIT: I looked at the page again, and noticed that only people who have access to the code can change this problem, not us regular editors.

Well, you do know that Taiwan isn't a country. In olympic games Taiwan is Taiwan (China). I think it's right to change it as Chinese/Taiwanese Dramas and movies.

The only reason why Taiwan isn't a country is because of China putting political pressures on the world as to not accept the Taiwanese movement. Plus, Taiwan is know as R.O.C (Republic of China) because non-communist Chinese retreated there after losing China.

Well, changing it to Chinese/Taiwanese Dramas and movies at least gives the Taiwanese producers and actors the credit they deserve.

I think the main reason why we put Taiwanese and Chinese drama/films together is because it makes it easier for us organization-wise. A lot of users who upload Taiwanese drama/films do not classify it as Taiwanese, they use 'CDrama'. It's even more difficult for moderators to find information when they aren't as knowledgeable as yourself in the different dialects of Chinese.

So please, be considerate. We're trying to do the best we can in an efficient manner.

Not me being inconsiderate, more concerned. I did agree with the Chinese/Taiwanese, because, as you point out, people don't always credit Taiwanese shows.
But I thank you for fixing Chinese only to Chineses/Taiwanese.

^ Personally I think your reaction is quite unneeded. You are acting on a lot of bias. Taiwan is not a recognized country under the United Nations and thus is not officially it's own country. It's current political state is split. There is one side that claims to be independent while another side advocates for one China. So the issue is not even resolved internally.

It angers me to see educated people as yourselves that claim to love asian culture, but yet classify Taiwan and China as one.

This in itself is conflicting evidence. There are plenty of people who love Asian culture and classify the two as one. The KMT still claims that they are still one while the DPP promotes independence. However, the DPP's push has slackened significantly after the 2000 election when they gained the majority. It's political status is still undetermined not only because of China, but because of internal struggle.

Also, Taiwanese Dramas/Movies are spoken in Mandarin. Colloquially, Chinese is a common connotation for it so it doesn't necessarily suggest that China and Taiwan are one. It merely uses a commonly understood association so people can easily recognize it. It is a matter of language that creates the categories. It doesn't matter if there are slight differences between the two because they are dialects . That's why we don't split between Cantonese/Mandarin, etc. A more considerable change would be toward MMovie for Mandarin. The official language of Taiwan is still close to the Beijing dialect from where it originated. Sure there are a few differences in choice of vocabulary, and pronunciation, but that is a result of dialectal differences.

If you truly wanted to split between Taiwanese and Chinese movies, then you would have chosen to split between live action media where they speak Táiwānhuà of the Taiwanese Aboriginese and Mandarin which should be significantly different. However, phonetically, the native Taiwanese language is still apart of the larger Mandarin Family of dialects.

I am from Taiwan and I do know of the situation, but I don't think that a split is necessary. It wasn't intended to be some sort of political statement against Taiwan. It is merely division by language with colloquial terms. However, it seems that everyone else agrees with you and is happy to accommodate your requests, but oh well. I'm not here to fight; just wanted to state my position.

how come my concern isn't discussed.. so you put Japanese dramas and movies first because they are more popular?

He didn't say that at all. The Jdrama section is just larger than all the others. You really can't disprove that. He still stated that those 3 were the largest in size and thus are in the front row.

Since we're at it let's discuss why the Korean section is in the middle. Obviously Korean dramas and movies don't deserve to be in the top center since that obviously means, CR wants everyone to divert their attention to kdramas. Obviously center = center of attention. GASP guys.

Be serious guys. We're not out here to make some political statement. Relax. It's not a conspiracy to indirectly brainwash the community into thinking one way. There are larger issues at hand such as actually adding substance to our empty articles.

Oh shut the fuck up seriously, it shouldn't fucking matter which goes first. It really shouldn't, how can you tell Chinese/Taiwanese dramas are better than Japanese dramas? You really can't, so if the mods used that logic, you don't need to bitch about how Japanese got first. Just seriously shut the fuck up, and get over it. You're making too much of a deal about it.

EDIT to below: I didn't say you were being inconsiderate. I was saying you need to be considerate and understand our positions. We mods are humans, we can't accommodate everything people want. We try, but there is only so much time we can devote to requests such as yours. Because of time constraints and man power, we simply cannot do everything people request and my request to be considerate is a request to understand and reflect on what the mods try to do for the users on this site.

Be a little more understanding, that is all we are asking for.
