Do not mind many of them once I learn what the letters are abbreviations of. From life experience I've become appreciative of time tested abbreviations still in use depicting levels of teachable knowledge or freshly ingrained stupor re levels of education aka indoctrination depending upon which degree intellectual conceit one might profess: BS = Bachelor's Degree aka BS (bullcrap), MS = Master in Science or / aka More Shit = or I really might have mental Multiple Sclerosis, and PhD = Doctor of Philosophy = advanced study of something earning this letter arrangement and/or meaning abbreviation of "piled higher & deeper". The latter, depending upon subject matter, knowledge base and quantity of alcohol consumed can be a great indicator / predictor determining success ratio picking up hot gals or guys at a public facility operated by someone less "knowledgeable" in the private sector, etc.....

I do not have a hatred for abbreviated words and titles, but I detest the frequent use of all abbreviations in conversations or reviews as I now believe see the writing style as lazy and should be used wisely. I admit that I have used shortened words on Crunchyroll as I was informed this lingo increases response time, but I have realized that learning to increase my typing speed is sufficient and I no longer had interest to disrespect the English language.

I never really liked "gg" for "good game" or "good going" in MMOs. Seemed too trite.

Otherwise once you get used to them it becomes a sign of being on the "inside" with the community. Check out the concept of 'code grooming' where using the jargon of a group makes you seem a more legitimate member. "They're just like me!" Also convenience with things said a lot. If we understand OST, why should I type out "original soundtrack of the anime"?

OST/OVA/OAV are semi-historic holdovers but definitely used as jargon to identify as an anime fan (if not merely a weab).

Please just don't say netspeak abbreviations for emotion aloud such as "lol". Unless discussing the use academically.
