what about the braindead?

i once read that the best artist are young children. because there minds are free. they are not burdened by thought. their minds are far more advanced in the art of art. they are the true artist from with wince we should learn.

ps.
the braindead have no mind. they are as you said brain dead

i think subjective, untill you create some sort of system/criteria on which to judge art. then it becomes objective (within the world of that system).

So can we conclude that it is subjective and perhaps self evident?

yes and no. the more technical part of art can be learned. but art in itself is subjective.
i have come to the conclusion that art is a question that is not meant to be answered.
it is something that us mere mortals can not even begin to comprehend. and i leave it as that.

I also think that it is yes and no, maybe our language is not capable of expressing it

Artclown: are you an artist? What are some of your favorites?

ahh that is the beauty of it. i am a beginning artist who inadvertently answered my own questions that once caused me much strife. i have been in art for about 5 or 6 years. but I've just recently decided to refine my abilities. as where before i was into cartoon art, mainly anime, and now i am trying to master all forms of the subject. therefore i do not know very many artists(with the exception of the famous ones)

Perhaps its just me but I find it difficult to take any person's opinions seriously that do not even bother to capitalize or punctuate well.

The discussion gone off the deep end for me. Consider: Art is a question that is not meant to be answered. How is art in and of itself a question? Perhaps your likely using the word "question" as something like "an issue to investigate." Well then, I would say support what you state at least or I wont bother to give it a second look. That example, posters hasty conclusions, poor structure, little reasoning, and the fact that I often have only the vaguest idea what you mean (I'm constantly having to interpret posters meaning) goes to show why I think this discussion has largely gone off the deep end.

That being said, personally, I adore this one of Saturn eating ice cream. I enjoy it largely because the area of his penis is is darkened so I don't have to look at it. Also, who has not become enraged while eating ice cream, come on.

I did not bother as to further refine my answer as I, from reading the other replies, assumed that every one here had a further understanding of art more so that others. Therefore I felt as though that my explanations were self evident. I guess I was wrong.

This being said, maybe, just maybe, my explanation was not meant to be understood by the simply minded. Surely, if the simple minded understood this, than we would not be having this discussion of whether art was subjective or objective for then it would have been self explanatory.

I appreciate the concern. Therefore, from now on i will try to explain myself in a better way.

P.S.
I am sorry that this reply took so long. I had chores to do. I am only 16.
