Recovery of an MMO Junkie director Kazuyoshi Yaginuma has been tweeting, retweeting, and liking anti-Semitism content on Twitter since soon after he joined the social media service in 2011. He recently began to engage with Twitter users posting in English after his activity related to anti-Semitic posts caused a stir online.

Yaginuma, who posts under the handle, @yaginuma_san, has posted and shared content related disparaging Jewish people on the social media service. His posts sometimes reference religions such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and include content openly sympathetic to Nazis. In a tweet from September 2012, Yaginuma asked why Hitler and the Nazis "had to" carry out the genocide of Jews, questioned whether they did, and asked his readers if they have ever investigated the veracity of Anne Frank's diary.

DISCUSS!!!

PERSONAL COMMENT:
I put that phrase "People asking Crunchyroll to remove MMO Junkie in 3... 2... 1..." in order to reflect the current situation of how sensible is this society nowadays. I'm not asking for the removal by myself, however there will be people that will ask for it.

Respecting what the director said, yeah, its very unfortunate but it won't be the end of the world. Other famous people said worse things and their work is available anywhere (H.P. Lovecraft and Tolkien are the worst offenders). Lets put this as an example of a "famous person who is actually an asshole, in today's standards, in real life".

You know what. I find I don't care. Just like I didn't care that the Village People were outed as gay when being gay was still hated to being the point of criminal. I didn't find the story I enjoyed to be anti-semitic. and it was a good fun story. Worth the watch.

I think the current trend of getting disgusted with a creator's character and throwing out all his work as a result is toxic and ultimately limiting. Mel Gibson starred well in good movies, I used to be a big fan of Kevin Spacey, I'm not now but I would refuse to watch an old show in which he acted. Sometimes I think we focus to much on the creater rather than the creation. We shouldn't worship them, they all have feet of clay. But their works can still be beautiful.

EDIT:
It's an even worse response when the art is the work of a collective:

Just because the director is unsavoury doesn't tar the rest of the team with his brush.

Should we, in our modern day of strong (if not yet totally sucessful) feminism throw out the works of misogynistic authors editors and actors. They existed and still exist.

Some of the great pioneers of sci fiction were so anti-woman that female authors had to adopt male pen names to get their works published. Does that make there successes any less relevant or ground breaking?

There is a lot of stuff in anime that could be considered bigoted, I'm talking about stuff actually portrayed in the medium. This isn't even a case of something in the show being bigoted, so I think the show is safe from being blacklisted for at least a little while

Shame but you know, just separate the work from the guy. A huge team worked on it. Don't ask for it's removal. You'd be an idiot.

Also I'm sure that most people don't care about who makes their anime. Crazy if they suddenly care.

So? who cares if he was the writer sure i could see people refusing to read it and wanting it scrapped (imo silly it's not like the writer is performing or anything) but the director? PSH come on guys.

This changes nothing in the end.

I don't think HP lovecraft and Tolkien are Assholes irl go with me here.
Back in their times the opinions they held were very common people who held them weren't exactly Assholes but mislead and from a different point in time their morals and values were different they don't have the insight and understanding we do if they did then did it sure.

I don't think they are Despicable people for being like most at the time if anything would you not say they were from a generation that was mislead and worse off ethically and morally?

Recovery of an MMO Junkie director is arguably an Anti-Semitic

Well, you're going to have to provide examples from the work itself then.

Uhhh... ok?

It's not like this guy is even the creator the series. The manga it's based on is written by someone else and the anime's script and series composition were handled by other people as well. As already mentioned in this thread, the anime was worked on by the whole staff. I don't think anyone will be stupid enough to say "this anime was only made by some racist Jew hating man." If you're someone who has watched MMO Junkie, you wouldn't see anything resembling the director's personal views in it.

OCD activating: Well, he's either anti-Semitic or an anti-Semite. Consistency please!

Boycotting the show now won't help aynone's cause, the dude already got paid. It will only hurt people completely unrelated to this. Not that this will stop people in the West from doing it regardless. Well, whatever rocks your boat.

I was going to say that I couldn't care less, but then I realized that I am typing up a response so I guess that isn't entirely true.

If I recall correctly, Crunchyroll also had a hand in co-producing MMO Junkie (http://www.crunchyroll.com/showtag?tag=crunchyroll+co-production&type=2), so, even if you tried to get it taken off the site (which I DO NOT agree with), I doubt calling for its removal would be very successful anyway. Personally, I enjoyed MMO Junkie. I'm sure that Rin Kokuyō (the original author) is probably more upset about the director being this way than any of us are.
