I feel this has happened to another group of people, you know, not allowed in restaurants because of the way they looked. Good intentions, but totally not the best way to try and help obese people

Omg...this is all a conspiracie the government is attempting...first they will try to target the indvidual then they will attempt to achieve their true goal...

First they try to restrict fat people from eating in fast food restaurants...
Then fat people will rise and say..."not fair...if we are restricted everyone should..."
Then the government says..."fine, if thats what you want, no more fast food for everyone..."
Then the average people will say..."wtf fat people...why you gotta ask the government to take away fast foods from us...not our fault your fat..."
Then fat people will say..."Screw you average people... if we don't get fast food, you don't either..."
Then average people will say..."OMFG fat people...you pissin me off..."

and then before you know it...average people will hate fat people and try to hunt them down...and of course since the fat can not run fast and can be easily seen from far away...they would be easily caught...and before you know it...it is the end of the fat people and they would become a race long forgotten...the end...

What you just read above is a clear conspiracy made by the government in an attempt to rid of fat people...we must not let this happen and stand together and prevent this from happening by defending our restaurants...

This is a total joke and is not going to happen (Most likely at least)...LOL...

oh god that was SO FUNNY. i lol'ed so much at that.

...and of course since the fat can not run fast and can be easily seen from far away....

Ouch! But yea anyways. I thought U'd jsut say this. But people girls who starve themselves when they were younger or are still starving themselves. when thye have kids they're usuallly fatter. It's because your body thinks that theirs a famine (no food) so whatever food you do eat turns into fat (energy storage). So yea that gene passes down to the babys. That's why some people today have a slower metabolism and stuff.

The problem lies in the choices available to people. Fast Food chains!

It's even funny how the bad products are exposed by "not as bad" products through advertising. I'm sure everyone here has seen all those Vitamin Water (you know the ones that always go "TRY IT TRY IT TRY IT") commercials. I saw a commercial recently for a rival/competing energy water drink about how many calories Vitamin Water has compared to their own. Something along the lines like you'd have to run a lot more miles to burn off all the calories in the supposedly healthy Vitamin Water.

Splenda for example. It's an artificial sweetener that's legally sold and available in supermarkets and grocery stores.

You, me, anyone can go and buy this crap. It's not good for you and isn't something the body is normally able to digest.

And no laws, those just take forever to be signed off and in the event that someone else comes into power, there's the risk that law will just get wiped off or revised to not even work correctly.

Education is what people need. Learn to cook and or grow your own food.

Wow food won't expire! Yay! But we pay the cost of ingesting the preservatives

A lawmaker in Mississippi proposed a law banning fat people from eating in restaurants. Apparently if you have a BMI (body mass index) over 30, the Mississippi government says you can't eat in restaurants. Basically he's trying to get fat people to stop eating the unhealthy food served in those places. If a restaurant let's you eat there and you're obese, the restaurant loses its license.

Below is an article explaining in more depth

http://junkfoodscience.blogspot.com/2008/01/no-fat-people-allowed-only-slim-will-be.html

This wouldn't bother me ,personally, but i guess it does infringe on human rights. Some people don't like to see fat people eating.

Wow... Amazing. It is so easy to list so many things wrong with that policy. So fat people are now criminals? They don't have the right to choose what to do? So when are they going to be putting cameras in our houses and assign specific work to people?

If he's going to ban fat people from eating "unhealthy foods," I think there should first be bans on alcohol and cigarettes. Might as well ban idiots from using the internet, because it is not making them any smarter. Is this moron just trying to create controversy for fame/infamy?

This is one of the retarded possible law trying to be passed I've ever heard of. How about trying to fix are in debt economy, worry about our ozone, the war in Iraq, elevated gas prices, expensive health care issue and oh so many more important issues. But no lets worry about the ppl with BMI's over 30. There just trying to get people focused on stupid issues like that to keep our mind off the real issues that matter in our world. Are they going to have some one at ever restaurant door to calculate the BMI. Come on people be more realistic like restaurants or fast food chains are really going to allow this law to pass. Freedom Of Choice people !! Instead of worrying about how much food people eat lets worry about what they put in our food.

Maybe the intentions are good, but the methods are all wrong. It's basically boils down to discrimination because of how they look.

And what defines 'fat'? I know people ranging from size 0-32 and they ALL call themselves fat! Is the restaurant going to looks at you and say, "well i don't know, you look a little on the chubby side, lets get the machine out to measure you!?''... doesn't sound right to me. And what about the people they have medical problems that keep them overweight (thyroid etc...)? I find it funny that something like smoking, which is KNOWN to harm the users body and the bodies of individuals around the user isn't banned in many restaurants, but many people are ready to ban overweight people from them >.< wtf?

If you're gonna kick big people out of restaurants because you think they're too big... then people who are too skinny and could be perceived as anorexic or bulimic should be kept out of salad bars and gym's! I don't think we'll be seeing that happen, so why only the bigger people?

I do think that intervention is sometimes needed, like parents who have children that are severely overweight, causing serious health problems. The kids life is in danger and I do consider such severe cases abuse.

But banning overweight people from restaurants is going too far. If the gov't cares so much, they should be regulating the places that serve these fatty foods and provide more healthy affordable alternatives.

Also, the wording of this is a problem. They're saying "fat "people. But I'm guessing what they mean is people who are unhealthy because of the extra weight. Sorry to inform ya people, but weight and health do not always correlate. I have many friends who are skinner than me, but can't walk up 5 flight of stairs in my school building without being winded... something I have no problem doing. Not to say that weight doesn't cause health problems because it does, but it is not always the sole problem. It looks like they just don't want to see bigger people around because they think they look "nasty", not because of their "concern" about their health. And even if that was the case, I still isn't right for many other reasons. This seems a lot like how black people where treated in America years ago because of how they looked.

Way to go America! You're really breaking the cycle of hate! -_-
