Yeah, strangely enough, usually just words though. I sometimes can remember the character's dialogue in my head and then coordinate that with the subtitles...

I definitely started learning the language from the animes, things like anatani kaminou gokagou for May God be with you, greetings in Japanese etc

Yeah words like nandemonai and hisashiburi are easy to pick up now. The subs help me learn new words all the time.

Bah, you pick up a few words but you'll never actually speak it enough to make some conversation. Conjugation, particles usage, building up a sentence... You won't get that from animes.

I learned a few words like baka and kawaii...heh thats about it I just read the subs I don't really pay attention to what they say..or how they pronounce it.
