Do You Think Racing Is A Sport?

THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE IN THE CAR SECTION

Do You Think Racing Is A Sport?

Me....No i do not think its a sport. cuz its just a driver going in circles. you already drive. when you drive in the free way/express way do you consider your self an athlete. i mean the only athletes in racing is the pit crews.

a sport is an activity that allows u to accumulate a skill and possibly compete with it if u wish, is it not?? i suppose high speed driving could be a skill.. and they compete with it too, so i'll say yes, its a sport

that depends on what kind of racing... I mean the indy 500 is because it takes a lot of consentration and skill
the X-games races are because they're not racing on a concrete track but they're motoring over crazy terrain.

You should really do a little more research before making such a statement.

Using your argument since anyone can kick a ball, soccer wouldn't be considered a sport either.

Competitive motor sports often pit a driver's stamina, judgments, and reflexes against other drivers in a high-speed, high-danger situation.

Theres actually a division of racing where everyone drives the same car.
I still consider normal racing a sport as there is massive ammounts of skill and concentration needed, but alot of it depends on the car and engineers and less on the drivers.

It's not a traditional sport or a can be called sport. It falls under a branch of sports like what that guy 4-5 rows above me said. "motor sport".

People will argue that it requires intense coordination, reaction, and that you sweat a lot(also get tired).
But that can refer to anything. I can play a racing game on my computer for 4 hours during summer without the air conditioner on. Maybe it's a motor/vehicle game? Or a competition?

Yea yea... I'm not saying that racing isn't challenging or that you don't have to be in the right shape for it. But in terms of the activity and premise, it doesn't seem like one.

Not really, they just sit in their car. They're not really exercising either.

Racing hmm is a somewhat a sport but not really. It does improve your driving skills to go over the limit normal drivers are suppose to go. Most likely racing is like a dare-devil act where you can do reckless things. Yes car section... that my first reaction

it is, as long as it pushes the car and driver to their limits.

Ok, you can play a racing game for four hours without air conditioning. Now actually go on the street, race four hours, concentrate on racing lines, battling several cars, having the urge to pee, make decisions with the pit crew whether you need to pit for tires or gas, always try to shave seconds off laps, and best of all, endure hours of 120 degree heat in a fire retardant suit. On top of that, you have to feed info to the tuner so they can setup the car for that specific track.

I drift in Gran Turismo 4, does that make me a licensed D1GP driver? No.

Obviously it looks easy to the average person but when you actually try, you're just blow so much nuts that everyone laughs at you.

Sports aren't just limited to just physical, there's mental sports and precision sports.
