Let's just say if you had a job or a lifestyle where you had a lot of physical documents. How do you keep all of your physical documents together in an organized fashion?

I tend to pile them in groups and eventually folders, then eventually enough folders a file cabinet.

Folders for now because i don't have a lot of them I need to keep track of, yet. I'll evenually have to dedicate a drawer (and then a cabinet?) to them.

I was fortunate enough to get a hand-me-down safe from my dad, so that's where really sensitive things are living. I'm paranoid about water ingress so anything that the government might want to see is kept in plastic bags, with ID's being kept in another bag within that.
Normal bill/finance crap is kept in folders in a box.
It scares the crap out of me to consider losing that stuff in a house fire, so it's all together and ready to be thrown out the window. =P

Anything else is piled on my desk because I'm otherwise quite a slob.

Technology has given us cloud storage. Although I don't understand the concept 100% I suppose I can learn to accept it while going about my business on the net.

Am presently entertaining the idea of torch storage. It's not new. Ancient civilizations performed it almost by rote. Tribes even used it for communication at times, especially in Hollywood cowboy-Indian westerns once animosity became a norm rather than a sport settling opinions.

The upside is less headache, more room / living space once all these paper-based reminders of past / current obligations convert over from terraforma presently to a gas permanently. As soon as IRS rules on this, hopefully favorably, I'm going to adopt this ancient technique of forever present moment.
